Chapter Forty-Five

"Names?" Mr. Hartfield asked without looking up from his clip board.

"Uh- Sin Blake and Avalon West," Sin replied.

He nodded his head at us, a sign for us to begin.

The music's began playing overhead and I could feel Sin grasp my hand as he turned me towards him.

'Look only at me," he mouthed. I nodded briskly, not daring to meet the speculating gazes of my peers.

(Sin)

I let myself carry away in his voice. No one else was here. No one was watching me. Just Sin and I against the world.

I finally faced the crowd, only to see them smiling and looking impressed. My heart skipped a beat. We may have this shot.

All the previous acts and our friends stood to their feet and started clapping along happily; some mouthing the words. A smile formed on my face as I looked at Sin. His eyes shining with pride and... Is that?

The crowd applauded us as Mr. Hartfield walked to the stage not so gracefully. He smiled as he handed us a slip of paper and turned towards the audience.

"Congratulations to everyone who made the cut! We will reach out when we have further information."

Everyone rushed out of the auditorium.

I unfolded the slip of paper. A squeal escaped my lips as I threw my arms around Sin's neck in excitement. We did it! We qualified!

He hugged me back tightly as he smiled largely into my neck.

He pulled away slightly to look at my face and pecked me on the nose.

"See, I knew you could do it, Princess," he smirked.

I cringed at the nickname but let it go, not letting it spoil my elated mood.

Tris and Clay rushed towards the stage and scrambled onto it; tackling Sin and I in a massive bear hug. Justin trailed behind with his hands shoved into his pockets but a smile on his face.

"Congratulations!" Tris squealed into my ear.

I shied away from her, rubbing my now sore eardrum.

"Thanks, but now I'm deaf," I joked.

"We have to celebrate! I know just the place," Tris smiled.
