Chapter 1. Souls and Zoran

"Why is it a tree?" She asked out of plain curiosity.

"Do you mean to ask why a tree out of all the things a soul embodies? A tree is a lineage, a line, a blood bond. A tree tells both your past and potentially future. Think of it like a family tree, though it is more of a clan than a family. Through trial, and tribulations you can advance your soul tree, nurture and gain access to different abilities. The soul tree isn't only a holographic form of knowledge but also power and destructive force. In all honesty, I'm actually quite eager to see what you will be able to do once you enter that world. The place is filled with unsolved mysteries, avoidable wars and death. Lives tossed away because of one man's greed. I know that you will strive to be strong there as well, because amidst all the chaos there will be happy times. A place for you to finally become strong as well, and build your own path not one that others pushed you towards." He spoke with a smile as he watched the young girls face twist with both excitement and wariness, curiosity and fear.

A good mixture of feelings for a world like the one she was going to. "Would you like a chance to try spending your experience that you gained so far? Your previous life gave you enough exp. to at least not be completely defenseless when you enter the new world." He asked as he looked to see her eyes widen with glee.

"Yes please!" She exclaimed with a bit of excitement ready to see what starting ability she would get. "Alright, First open your Soul Tree." He said as he watched her flick her hand, palm open as she activated the screen, it looked like something straight out of a video game.

"Good job, now click on the Conjure option." He instructed as he watched her do as he said.

"Why are the lights around the seed flashing?" Kira asked as she looked up at Zoran questioningly.

"Hehe the most common one you see is the grey right? Along with the green. Those obviously are the lesser skills while the blue are fewer than them and are a unique or higher technique than the green and grey. The highest being the pink one that had only flashed three times." He said as he pointed out what the colors meant.

Nodding she asked so she could clarify, "So grey is the most common, green is uncommon, blue is Rare, and pink is the Ultra Rare one, am I right?"

Zoran smiles, "Yes that about sums it up, make sure to see what you get though." He reminded helpfully causing her to look back at the ever changing colors. Finally the colors stopped, slowing down till only one color was formed. Blue.

She was given a rare technique as a start to her new journey. "Interesting, now what blue level Technique did you get?" He asked as he looked at her screen curiously. Looking down she examined her screen,

Looking at the new technique that was beside the shadowy branch, she was dumbfounded to know that she could use the pitch black burning flames of the Uchiha, something that she only knew came from the anime Naruto. "Ehhhhhh!"she exclaimed as she looked at it, "This is from Naruto?" She asked confused about her new ability.

"Yes, you see because Naruto is also a different world that the Soul Tree can link to. Essentially, I could have sent you to any of the anime worlds and still had the same technique or power of another world. That is the untamable power of the Soul Tree. If your having trouble, think of it as more of a Soul Forest." He said as he looked down at her with a calm smile on his face.

"That's so cool!" She exclaimed childishly as she stared at her holographic Soul Tree screen.

Zoran chuckled as he watched her search through the hologram with a child-like innocence, "Indeed." He laughed as he watched her with enthusiasm. He was happy she wasn't just like she was before dying and appearing here, he had known that she would someday appear in the Void. When however he didn't know, but he knew many others with her ability that he could have chose to take as his to help adjust to their new way of life. He had watched her struggle back on earth, she was a lonely child, prodigy maybe, and yeah she was a genius but she didn't seem happy about it. Looking back at the memories of her childhood he had seen a huge amount of neglect, she had a superstar mother that was never in her life and a drunk father who was never around always at a pub somewhere. Although neglectful the father made damn sure she knew his opinion of her, Zoran was truly disgusted by the trash which was her 'father'.

"Zoran?" Asked Kira as she saw the raven haired man with a frown on his once smiling face.

Blinking he smiled sheepishly, "Sorry, Sorry, I was lost in thought." He apologized as he rubbed the back of his neck.

"It's okay, I was just wondering why you chose me and I wanted to know if I was from an anime too, but, you also said that I had to leave soon didn't you?" She asked with a tilt of her head.

He snapped his finger, "Ah Yes, I forgot about that for a moment sorry Kira. Yes you were from an anime world as well, an anime I knew from my original world known as Yu Yu Hakusho, the main character was your childhood friend Urameshi-kun if I'm not mistaken."

Kira sighed as she felt as if her whole world and all of what she had known, was a lie, "Don't feel bad Kira, every world is connected to one another even if it is an anime or video to one group of people it's a way of life for another. Don't feel as if you are fake, everyone and everything is real, just not in such a close way." Said Zoran as he smiled down at the silverette who smiled back at him, now more confident and not so sullen. "Right, well before I forget along with the Soul Tree, you also have the option to call me at any time if you were to need anything from me." He said as he walked forward around Kira to an unseen object. Seemingly grabbing at the air he turned his hand and pushed open a door that suddenly appeared out of the pitch black. "This door will lead you to your new world, be warned though that you will be sent into the dangers of that world that not even I know of." He warned as he watched her slowly approaching the door.

She gave him a smile, reaching up she wrapped her arms around his chest, "Thank you for helping me Zoran." She said as she hugged him.

His eyes widened at the show of affection. "Why?" He asked as he hugged her back still confused though.

"Because you were the only one to ever help me." She said giving him an awkward smile as he stared down at her not really answering her.

Finally she pulled away, "Sorry if that was awkward Zoran—"  before she could finish the Raven haired male grinned at her, "It's okay Kira, I was just surprised is all. You better get going before I become to attached to you little one." He said as he gave her a final smile.

Kira nodded with a smile, "Goodbye for now Zoran !" She called before walking through the door.

Zoran sighed as he watched her go, "Goodbye for now Kira..."
