It's Friday afternoon and I've just came out of what I can say was an incredibly exhausting gym lesson with Coach Fury, the one and only. He pushes us hard but, from experience, I know that's not nearly as hard as he pushes the football team. I don't think I'll ever forget. My football days were some of my best.

I quickly shower then head out of the changing rooms for lunch. I stop off at my locker to drop off my gym kit, meeting Taylor along the way.

"Cafeteria?" She asks with a smile.

I nod in agreement, accidently spraying Taylor with tiny droplets of water from my just washed hair.

"Kai!" She tries to tell me off with a straight face as she wipes away the water with her sleeve but eventually gives up, allowing the smile to creep back onto her face.

"Sorry?" I slam shut my locker and we carry on in the direction of the cafeteria.

Taylor has sat with me and Cole everyday this week, ever since the first time on Monday. I have to admit, I enjoy her company and I know Cole does too - I think he might even be developing a little crush on her. I don't blame him. Taylor's pretty and a generally fun person. Her bold personality adds a little more light to our otherwise dull days.

Amelia has been MIA again. Her seat in English, the one class we share, has been empty since she told me she wasn't going to be in due to "family stuff". I even checked the roof a couple of times but she wasn't there.

When she said she was going to miss school I thought she had meant just that one day. I guess whatever is keeping her away is longer than I expected. And, of course, the curiosity is bugging me like a constant bee buzzing around my head. That girl is always in the corner of my mind.

There must be something wrong with me.

But since she's not been here, I've been in the cafeteria with Cole and Taylor every lunchtime this week. It's a little refreshing in the way that it takes my mind off of discovering the secrets Ayms is hiding.

Suddenly, I catch a glimpse of Damien's instantly recognisable ginger hair down at the end of the corridor. He's walking in our direction, Chris and Jason on either side of him. He look's ahead and for a split second our eyes meet. His eyes are stone cold as soon as he sees me and he begins storming towards me like he's out for blood.

If he makes it to us it definitely wont end well, especially since 'us' includes Taylor.

I look around for an escape, grab Taylors arm and drag her into an empty classroom that I spot, much to her protest. Quickly shutting the door behind us I back Taylor against the door with both my arms resting on the door at either side of her head, my body and arms blocking all movement.

"Hey, what are you..." Taylor begins, trailing off before finishing her sentence.

I look her in the eyes, trying to communicate with her to shut up so that Damien doesn't hear us. I think she gets the message until she starts blushing. Then I realise the awkward position were in, how I'm pressed up against her and what she must be thinking of. My face is inches from hers, close enough that I can smell her peppermint breath and see the ever-present fire behind her ocean blue eyes.

Uncontrollably, my eyes glance towards her lips before I force them back up to her eyes. I can feel her trembling with tension and her chest rising and falling at a fast pace.

"Kai, I don't think we should-"

"Shhh" I urge before she makes it even more uncomfortable.

Closing my eyes to try and distract myself from the stupid situation I've gotten us into, I take a deep breath. Then I open them and take a look over Taylor's head and through the tiny window that looks out to the corridor. I can't ignore how it feels to be pressed up against her but I try. The tight space doesn't help.
