THE SUN SHONE bright and it burnedagainst her fair but slightly tan skin. The birds sang, announcing a new day has begun.
Evelyn breathed in the fresh, cool, air as the wind blew her brown hair, it hitting her cheeks with light taps. Her legs ached from the field work she had been doing for the past six hours and she only wished for it to end. The girl could only hope the aching would fade away over time like her pain from her beatings did.
