Chapter 25

Oliver gave her sister a questionable look cocking his head on one side and said, "Ok, you two continue, while I'll just visit one of my clients. I'll be back at 2. Is that Ok?"

"Yep bro, now leave", Claire pushed Oliver towards his car.

"Wait, I....just need ...to..", he was trying to reach me, but Claire cut him in-between screaming, "You can kiss her bye later, good bye brother!".

"Fine", he said making faces and then waved me a kiss, and I could not help but smile.

As soon as he left, Claire turned around and grabbed my hand pulling along walking around the street, "You must be wondering, why I ask him to leave, right?"

"Er..yes", I pushed a strand of hair behind my ear.

"Well, we have to buy lingerie for you, also I needed some alone time with my future sister in law".

I felt good when she called me her future sister in law, although marriage is nowhere in my mind yet. Wait, what? Lingerie??

"Why do I need to buy lingerie?"

"Because I know that you have moved in with Ollie and you will be doing it sooner or later". My cheeks turned red with embarrassment.

I didn't argue with her though, and we were through with our lingerie shopping soon. I was surprised to see the price tags on the skimpy outfits. They were inversely proportional to the amount of cloth needed to stitch one. I was getting nervous eyeing on the amount of shopping I had done for a day. It was too much and I felt it unnecessary altogether.

"Sam, I know what you must be feeling now",Claire said placing her hands on mine.

"Don't you think all this is unnecessary. I mean can changing someone's appearance and attire can we make someone like him or her?", I finally said what was haunting me for so long.

"You are right. It doesn't matter how a person looks on the outside and I am totally with you in this. But you don't know, how my mom is. She will not even put her eyes on you until you fit well into her status on the appearance level atleast. So, only to make you approachable, we have to do this. But I am sure, once she'll get familiar with you, and know the true you, she won't be able to stop herself from falling in love with you, like me and Sam".

"And what about your dad?"

"It's a secret, he already is happy that Oliver chose love over my mom's pride. But when it comes to decision making in the house, my dad always is more passive."

"Anyway, tell me more about your family?", She asked.

"I am a single child. My mom lives in Woodstock. She has raised me single handedly after my dad's death when I was five."

"Oh, I am so sorry!", She said.

"You tell me more about you two. How come you and Oliver are so different? I mean totally opposite, being siblings", I asked sipping the coffee.

"That is coz Ollie is adopted. My parents adopted him when he was 4. I was born two years later." Although we never got much time to know about eachother, but still I felt disappointed to realise that Oliver didn't tell me this earlier.

"What are you thinking?"

"Nothing, it's just, he never told me this."

"How does it matter anyways. He is my parents first child and my only brother."

"True. You are an amazing sister, you know that?"

"Yes, I know. And you are the best sis in law. I am so glad Ollie rejected Julianne. I just hate her."

"Really! Why?"

"Well, she is too fake to start with. Also I don't want another status freak in my family. My mom is enough for all of us to handle." She paused for a moment before speaking, "Sam, I need to tell you something".

"Please do".

"Promise me you won't tell Ollie. I don't want to upset him".

Her words made me nervous. I took a deep breath and then placed my hands on hers and said, " you can trust me Claire."

"I know I can blindly trust you Sam. I am just a little worried about Ollie. He loves his family a lot. Anyway what I wanted to say is that, the day before, Oliver and Julianne came to visit us, I heard Mom speaking to someone on phone. That time I couldn't realise who she was talking to. But now I think that she was talking to Julianne and this test thing is Julianne's idea altogether. They obviously want you out of Oliver's life. I think Julianne has much more sinister plans for you than my mom thinks."

I listened to what Claire said and was trying to process all the information. I never had thought that loving someone could be this testing.

"Sam, I know you are worried and you probably hate my mom, but believe me she is not a bad person. She loves her son a lot and currently is completely under Julianne's influence."

"I don't hate your Mom. How can I, she is Oliver's mother. I am just freaking out about this test. I don't know what I have to prepare for."

"I'll try to find out. But anyway you don't have to worry about it. My brother is too much love in you to lose you over this stupid deal."

I wish world would have been so beautiful as Oliver's little sister. I thanked God in my mind for this.
