Chapter 15

"W-What?"

"Give me. Give me more of that blood," she yelled.

(Y/N) stopped back, knowing that she was going crazy once again. She fumbled with her Launcher and pointed it towards the Crank. When she pulled the trigger, she shot her and she was now dead.

That memory was forever seared in (Y/N)'s mind.

When a week has passed, she thought that she'd better take a look at her friends. When she reached the Control Room, she saw Thomas inside looking so sad and defeated.

"Thomas," she called out to him. He lifted his head and (Y/N) saw fear and sadness in them. "Thomas what's wrong?" She put her arm around him.

"It's Newt," his voice broke.

"What happened?" (Y/N) got really nervous.

"I'm not sure if you'd want to see this," he gulped.

"My curiosity is getting the best of me Thomas," she told him. "I need to know what happened to my boyfriend!"

Thomas swallowed something inside his mouth and started to press the video that he watched only a few seconds ago. (Y/N) watched as Newt walked around the Glade, talking with the other Gladers and laughing with them. Seeing Newt's smile made (Y/N) smile too for the first time in a week. It was then Newt asked for some food from Frypan that made (Y/N) suspicious. She looked at Thomas who was looking at her not the screen.

"He's going into the Maze," (Y/N) said as he watched Newt go inside. "What is he doing!?" She exclaimed. "He doesn't have anything in him. No map, no nothing. Only that snack that Frypan gave him! Thomas what's going to happen?"

Thomas just shook his head and he looked like he was about to cry. Seeing that Thomas wasn't going to say anything, (Y/N) put her attention back on the screen.

(Y/N) watched in horror when he started to climb the ivy on the walls. She started to cry and wish that there was something she could've done. When Newt stopped when he thought that he reached the top, he looked up at the fake sky. (Y/N)'s heart broke because he looked so defeated, like he was so tired of this world. Newt faced the beetle blade and (Y/N) saw into those brown eyes of his.

"I don't know who you people are, but I hope you're happy. I hope you get a real buggin' kick out of watching us suffer. And then you can die and go to hell. This one's on you," he said.

Newt let go of the ivy that he was holding and (Y/N) watched him fall.

Please don't die. Please don't die.

She kept on telling herself. If Newt died all because of her, she'd never forgive herself. She heard a cracking sound and (Y/N) looked at the screen and gasped with what she saw. Newt was on the ground with his leg now disfigured.

"Oh Newt," (Y/N) started to cry. "No. No. No. No! NO! NO!"

Thomas stood up from his seat and engulfed (Y/N) in a hug as she cried.

"It's all my fault," she cried. "It's all my fault!" The tears flowed from her eyes and her body started to shake really bad.

"It's-It's not your fault," Thomas said.

"He said that this is on us, Thomas. This is on WICKED. Guess what, I'm part of it!" She exclaimed. "It's my fault!"

"But (Y/N) listen," Thomas held her shoulders to face her to him. "He's not dead. He's just got a limp, that's all."

"That means he can't run again," she cried. "Everything's going to be different for him. I need to get him out of here."

"Hey. Hey," Thomas stopped (Y/N). "Everything's going to turn out fine."

"H-How?"

"I don't know but I'm starting to think of a plan to save them. But (Y/N) promise me that you won't ever blame yourself for what happened to Newt. Come on (Y/N), promise me," he pleaded.

"I'll try," she said.

Thomas sighed sadly. "That's good enough for me." He pulled her into a hug.
