Chapter 10

(Y/N) kept on taking a few breaths as every second passed. She was really nervous and knows how dangerous it was. Since these Cranks were almost past the Gone, one of them could pull the trigger and kill her if he'd want to. (Y/N) jumped when she felt a hand on her shoulder.

"Calm down, it's me," Newt said.

"Oh," she let herself relax. "Sorry."

"You ready?"

"As ready as I'll ever be," she said.

"Just promise me something," Newt held (Y/N)'s cold hands.

"What is it?"

"Promise me you'll take care of yourself and be safe out there. Please," he begged her.

"I promise Newt. I'd never want to hurt you by breaking it," she promised him. "Come here."

Newt moved closer to (Y/N) as she pull him into a hug. She held him tight and pulled him closer to her. She let out a sigh and a smile formed on her face.

"I missed this," she said. "I missed you. So much."

"Me too."

"How can you miss me but you didn't even remember me?"

"I don't know," he shrugged. "But I feel as if you're an important part of my life. I have this instinct to protect you and keep you safe."

(Y/N) smiled. "Thank you."

"Alright lovebirds, let's go," Minho said making both (Y/N) and Newt pull away from each other.

(Y/N) walked over to Minho and absentmindedly checked if her dagger was still with her. She laid a hand on his shoulder and gave him a small smile.

"Be careful, don't die," Minho told her making (Y/N) chuckle.

"I'll try my best."

(Y/N) walked over to where Thomas was held at gunpoint and sure enough, she heard footsteps coming her way. There was a guy and a girl, they both looked horrible. Like they haven't slept for weeks. The guy was eyeing her up and down which disgusted her while the girl seemed like she was lost in her thoughts.

"Where are you going there pretty lady?" The guy asked (Y/N).

"Where'd you come from?" The girl asked.

"Where else?" She scoffed. "The Scorch."

"Where are you headed?" The guys asked. He seemed a little annoyed that he was ignored.

"I'm just trying to survive another day," she simply replied.

"Maybe you'd like to come with us," the girl smiled, showing her horrible teeth that made (Y/N) shiver.

Jackpot, (Y/N) thought as she smiled.

"Where to?" She asked.

"Alright enough of this," the guy rolled his eyes. He pulled out a gun and pointed it at (Y/N). (Y/N) was scared but she didn't show it. The guy wasn't thrilled that (Y/N) didn't show even a hint of fear. "Hmm. Brave one are you."

To show that she wasn't scared even if she's shaking inside, she smirked. The guy then put down the gun and laughed. "How about you'll come and party with us? Looks like you're crazy enough to hang out with us."

(Y/N) secretly let out a sigh of relief. "Come on in," the girl took her hand and tangled it with hers.

Before (Y/N) was locked inside the place where the other Cranks were partying, she took one look at the outside world where she knew that Newt and the others were watching.
