MYSTIC FALLS: 1864

The Salvatore library had quickly become Damon and Mary's sanctuary. The one room in the whole house that was spelled with a silencing rune.

Runes were part of her original Viking heritage so she would never stop using them.

The rune meant it was the one room in the house where no vampire could overhear their private conversations.

"I don't want to do this." Damon whispered as he moved to sit beside the beautiful raven-haired witch on the small couch.

While he understood the reasoning behind everything she had told him, it just wasn't fair that they had to hide like this.

He wanted nothing more than to just be with Mary but alas they both knew Katherine would never allow them their peace.

Mary sighed as she tucked a strand of her black hair behind her ear before turning to gaze at the human's handsome face.

Placing a hand on his cheek she offered him a weak smile "I know, my love." She whispered as her thumb stroked his jaw.

"But it is the only way. Katherine cannot know the truth about us. You know she will react negatively. The last time she thought a man was distracting me she killed him in cold blood."

Damon inhaled tightly before he took her hand in his own. Kissing her knuckles softly he finally nodded in agreement. He just hated that things had to be this way, it was so complicated.

But if it meant that eventually the two of them could be together it would all be worth it.

"I know, I just wish that things could be different."

"But they cannot." The witch whispered her thumb stroking his cheek lovingly "The moment Katherine finds out she will try to use compulsion on you again and I hate seeing her do that to you. Please do this for me. For us." She encouraged cupping his face in both of her hands before leaning her forehead against his "If we have any chance of being together forever, we need Katherine to give you her blood, and if she thinks anything is off, she will kill you."

"Let me see you again..."

His words caused her to wince. Despite the vague statement, she knew exactly what he meant. He wanted to see her true face.

"My real face is not a pretty one anymore, Darling."

"I love you, no matter what."

Hesitantly, Mary placed both hands over her face, black glimmering mist moving between her fingers.

As she pushed her hands up her face and through her hair, the black mist moved through her veins, shaving the glamour away.

Instead of clear skin and green eyes, Damon was met with chocolate brown eyes and a half-burned face.

Her true face.

The one that had been torn from her so long ago.

Damon smiled and cupped her cheek, his thumb stroking the burnt scars on the left side of her face "As beautiful as ever."

Pulling back Mary's brown orbs connected with his own crystal blue eyes "I cannot lose you. Please, Damon."

Damon looked down at the beautiful girl he loved more than anything and nodded "For you. I would do anything."

MYSTIC FALLS: PRESENT DAY

Deciding to crash with Stefan after her late-night patrol, Buffy grumbled as the sun started to peak through the curtains.

Burying her face into the pillow trying to ignore the bright light invading her rare nightmare-less evening of sleep, Buffy tried to keep her eyes closed.

But it was no use. The sun was too bright and her eyes started to flutter open. Luckily she was less tired than usual.

Every time she shared a bed with Stefan the nightmares seemed to disappear.

Adjusting in Stefan's insanely comfortable bed to try and avoid the sunrise, Buffy had to admit, while she wanted to be with Stefan...she was mainly here for the bed.

It was like a freaking cloud.
