F- I'll come over?

S- ok

F- ok see u in 5

Wait Freddy was coming over?!

I had to make sure that we avoided whatever happened last time. Today was a reminder that I'm with Asher. All this is is two friends meeting up to work on a duet. Nothing else!

I needed to make sure of that.

(Still Summer POV)

I waited on the couch near the door, anticipating Freddy's arrival.

Ding dong

I nervously opened the door.

F- Hey, sorry I'm late.

I was confused.

S- Um you're actually a minute early.

F- Oh, weird I'm never early.

We both laughed until I realized he was still outside.

S- Come on in.

I escorted Freddy in and we both sat on the couch. I made sure to leave a gap between us.

S- My parents won't be home until late and if needed you're welcome to stay over.

F- Cool thanks.

He began rummaging through a folder filled with sheet music. Weird, I hadn't even noticed he was carrying a folder.

F- So for the song I was thinking we could do an acoustic version. I'll bring my guitar to class tomorrow but tonight I thought we should just work on the vocals.

S- Sounds good buddy.

He handed me my part of the song and I began to scan over the lyrics.

Something about this song really stuck with me. It was unclear as to why I would gravitate towards this song, but now I know why.

It's how I feel about Freddy.

S- Oh where are my manners? Would you like anything to drink?

F- No thanks.

S- Okay, that's cool. Everything's cool ya know bro?

F- Sure... Anyways for this part I was thinking we could...

I began to shift the sheets, trying to find the right page, until they all flew to the ground.

We both rushed down to grab the stray papers.

S- Sorry... you were saying?

As we both leaned down to pick up the last piece, his hand touched mine.

I stared into his eyes and smiled.

S- I'm uh... thank you... um...

Butterflies were swarming in my stomach.

We both laughed but continued to hold hands, sitting back on the couch.

After a minute Freddy finally spoke.

F- Summer, you're my best friend.

S- And you are mine.

I relaxed my hand into his and sat closer. My hand was warm and my cheeks were blushing like crazy. He caressed my face and we stared into each others' eyes. We both leaned in closer and closer until I realized what was happening.

Not again.

I jerked away and snatched my hands out of his. I jumped off the couch, sending the papers tumbling down on the floor.

S- And that's what we are. Friends. Friends who need to work on this duet.

I laughed nervously and noticed Freddy looking at the floor.

F- Uh ya and you have a boyfriend. I mean of course you would!

S: Mmhmm suuuurrrreee do. Heh heh just uh me and you... I mean Asher!

F- Shall we work on...

S- The song?

F- You bet amiga.

Freddy's phone vibrated and rattled on the table.

He checked his phone and quickly stashed it away.

F- Wow uh what a day I gotta go. I'll work on this pal.

S- Okay my crazy buddy.

Freddy gathered all of his papers and walked out the door.

F- Uh see you later alligator?

S- After a while crocodile. My friend crocodile. Ha ha ha.

After he closed the door I plopped onto the couch.

Oh Summer, what did you do?
