Klangst in which Lance is found by team Voltron after sacrificing himself to save them during battle. It does have a happy (albeit cheesey) ending.

"Lance, don't you dare!" Keith had yelled at him, but it was obvious that if Lance didn't do this, Voltron would fall. It was worth it, definitely worth it.

He was starting to have second thoughts, though. Lotor himself had overseen his torture. The prince didn't seem to outwardly enjoy his pain, but he didn't make it stop. In fact, he commanded Haggar to keep going even if Lance was unable to answer or even move. He explained that it was an example of what would happen if the paladin defied him any longer.

But Lance never told him anything, at least not on purpose. Lance had let something slip once or twice, but it was small. Stuff like which lion he flew, what his position in Voltron was.

Apparently, that was enough for Lotor to break him.

He had been strapped down to a table. Lotor asked him questions. He didn't say a word. Lotor advised him to speak up before he regretted his silence. Lance said nothing.

But he screamed. He screamed when his right leg was severed from his body. He was the right leg of Voltron, but now he had no right leg. Lotor had smiled that day. Lance hadn't smiled since that day.

He sat now in a small cell with nobody else in it. He hadn't eaten for days, hadn't had any light for months. He could hardly move, so he stayed curled up in the middle of the room. It was hard for him to think about anything except for his team. Thinking of them led to thinking of his lion. Thinking of his lion made him a think of Voltron.

And every time he thought of Voltron, he thought of his leg. How it had been ripped away from him, leaving him with an empty spot. It was weird, to have a place he could once feel and control now be gone. There were no words that could accurately describe how he felt about it, or how it felt.

It was driving him crazy. The silence, the starvation, the pain. He needed something to focus on. Someone to focus on. He needed a lifeline, a tether.

That was when he met Matt. He looked so much like his sister, but he was definitely older. He had the beginning of a beard on his face and a firey (but often gentle) spirit.

"H-hey, are you okay?" That was the first thing Lance had heard in a long time. He managed to crawl over to the wall (where there was a bench) and pull himself onto it so that he was sitting next to Matt.

"Not really. But I'm alive, for now." His own voice was hoarse from lack of use and water. It was a miracle he was able to move.

"Same here." Matt sighed. "My name's Matt Holt. How about you?"

"Lance McClain." Lance swallowed a lump in his throat. "I... I know your sister." Even in the darkness, Lance could see Matt turning to face him immediately.

"Really? She's on Earth, right?"

"Well, no." Lance took a deep breath. "She's on a team of mine. Have you heard of Voltron?"

"She's a paladin of Voltron?!" Matt sounded delighted. "I knew she would do great things."

"You sound like her." Lance noted. "But yeah, she's the green paladin."

"What about you? You said she was on your team, so you're a paladin too, right?" Lance only shrugged.

"I'm the blue paladin, but I've been here for almost six months. Not the longest anyone's been here, I know, but it's long enough that they might think of replacing me." The thought was too much to bear - he knew it was true, but he didn't want to believe it.

"Katie would never let anyone be replaced. She was, and still is, in love with Lilo and Stitch. She's pretty protective of her family, biological or otherwise." Matt's words matched up perfectly with the Pidge he is knew, always ready to find her brother and father.

"Sounds like her." Lance laughed airily. The amusement hurt his lungs, but helped his heart. Maybe he would make it out of here...

"I... I found Matt." Pidge announced to everyone, out of breath from running to the bridge from her hangar.

"That's great." Keith was hoping for Lance, but Matt was good too. Matt was important too... But Keith wasn't secretly in love with Matt.

Muffled explosions and gunfire leaked through into Lance's and Matt's cell, alerting them that something was happening. Something good, hopefully.

"Matt, Matt!" Pidge's happy exclamations brought the two to their senses as she ran into the cell.

"Katie cat!" He laughed. She cut through his restraints and wrapped him in a hug. When they pulled away, she ran over to Lance.

"Hey, are you okay? We're going to get you out of- wait. Lance?!" Pidge gasped and cut through his restraints/handcuffs.

"In the flesh." He chuckled. She hugged him, then slapped him.

"Don't you ever do that again! It's not okay for you to sacrifice yourself for us, ever! We all thought you were dead! How did you even survive that Ion shot?" Lance rubbed his cheek, and Matt was looking at him with increasing respect.

"I don't know. And you know why I did what I did." He tried to stand up, but stumbled. Pidge noticed his missing leg from the knee down.

"Oh my God... What did they do to you?" She whispered. Lance shook his head.

"That doesn't matter now. What matters is getting out of here before Lotor-" An explosion rocked the ship.

"Gotcha. Let's go." Matt helped hold him up, and together they ran/stumbled through the ship. Lance shot down sentries to clear their path.

"Keith, thank God!" Pidge said suddenly. There was a moment of silence. "Yeah, we got him. And we have someone else." She answered an unheard question as the green and red lions came into view.

"Pidge!" Keith yelled, running up to her. He stopped short when he saw the nearly passed out teen being held up by Pidge's older brother. "Oh my God."

"Hey, mullet." Lance smiled at him.

"You're not dead." Keith whispered.

"Can we do this later?" Pidge interrupted. "We need to get back to the Castle before we're bombarded with sentries."

Keith took Lance and headed towards the Red Lion, while Matt and Pidge went to Green.

"Lance..." Keith picked up the Cuban boy, surprised at how light he'd become. He definitely needed a healing pod...

"Yeah?"

"Don't ever do that again." Keith planted a kiss on Lance's forehead. Lance raises a hand and touched the spot. He smiled at the ravenette.

"Can I have another?"
