#182 Beaches

I never liked beaches
The sand was difficult
To get off your skin
And the water was
So salty and would
Sting my eye badly
It would hurt
But you liked them
So I brought you there
You smiled—
Your lips and your eyes—
It was genuine

Three years later
I would go to the beach
Two feet
One heart
And I would like it
I would smile
And it was genuine
