Aphmau's POV

"Oh c'mon, it's not like it's the end of the world." I remark, rolling my eyes.

"Oh, ho no, this is worse than the end of the world, I can't even fit into this damn thing." Katelyn groans from the dressing closet.

"Katelyn, just try breathing. It really helps, trust me." Nicole suggests, her maroon curls matching her tail, it slowly swaying back in forth in the water around us.

We were in my mother and father's old room, Katelyn struggling in my mother's grand swim-in closet, the water a pleasant neutral temperature on this amazing day.

"You know what guys, I don't think today is the day, maybe we should reschedule..." Katelyn tries, but Cadenza, Nicole, and I shut her down.

"No Katelyn, you've been postponning this for months, you keep using the kingdoms reconstruction as an excuse." I retort, crossing my arms.

Then three of us become startled, by the closet doors swinging open wicked fast, and that's saying something because we are under water.

The door reveals a frustarted Katelyn, wearing a long white wedding dress, covered in beautiful pearls and shells.

Maybe you would like to know why I was back at the castle, with other mermaids, who I had previously thought to be extinct.

Well actually, after I had ran away from the castle to explore the acclaimed world, Katelyn had found out I was leaving and left to go and find me before the pirates invaded, leaving Katelyn when she returned to the deserted kingdom to have felt as alone as I did.

So she just swam away in grief, swimming at random with no destination in mind.

Though in her travels, she came across a hidden merpeople civilization, bustling with not only mermen and mermaids, but sea creatures alike.

She met Cadenza and Nicole there, along with many others.

She had lived with them, and joined the community there until she heard that I was alive, and back at the castle.

Though not only did Katelyn come back to the kingdom, she also brought some of the community with her, and eventually they all transferred to the kingdom.

Since then, we have been rebuilding our civilization.

And now, Katelyn is getting married, I think.

Cadenza said. "Travis has been a very patient man, Katelyn—"

"But—"

"THAT'S IT! Here Aphmau, hold Ariel." Cadenza passes me a small baby mermaid, her hair black and her eyes an electric blue, her body currently resting.

I smile, slowly bobbing her up and down, kissing her soft forehead.

"YOU ARE GETTING MARRIED TODAY KATELYN, EVEN IF WE HAVE TO KICK YOU DOWN THAT AISLE!" Nicole and Cadenza then literally start flapping their tails strongly against Katelyn's back, knocking her forward out of the room, through the open door frame.

I giggle, turning back to the now awake but sleepy baby mermaid, snuggled in my arms.

She was previously sucking on her finger, but now she was stretching her small miniscule arms out to the side, her mouth wide as she yawns.

She look as if she was trying to scream, but nothing audibly exits her mouth.

I smile again, this little bundle of joy making my heart warm and bubbly.
