Robbie, I saw a hand today...
I was reading my novel-- in the middle of a passionate, rough, steamy scene between two males-- when out of the corner of my eye I saw movement; followed by a sound like a: Thump. Thump.

At first, I thought it was the cat. Then, I remembered, we don't have any pets. I slowly moved my eyes in the direction of the noise. A gruesome hand, just a hand creeping out of the darkness of the hall.
Thump... Thump... Thump...

Each drumming of the long, bony fingers against the door frame, sending paralytic waves of fear and despair up my spine. The grimy-pale, gray hand making the hairs on my arms and neck stand up.

I struggled to close my eyes, willing the frightful image out of my mind. Once I opened them again, I was blessed with its disappearance. In its place, however, a rotten, tarred print now lays; a distinct echo in the room.
Thump... Thump... Thump...
