-the next morning-

"We need to talk to her" Lightning said as him and Sally sat at the kitchen table. "Lightning, she's just having some fun" Sally said as she drank her coffee. "I know but" Lightning paused as he heard someone walking down the stairs.

"Hey guys!" Cruz sang happily as she sat beside Sally. "What are you so cheery about?" Lightning asked as she looked down and laughed more. "I got a date" she whispered as Sally choked on her coffee. "Cruz! That's awesome!" Sally smiled. "Thanks! I cant believe it, it happened so fast. Like yesterday we were talking and then today I got a message from him-" "him? Define him" Lightning said a bit worried.

"..its Jackson" Cruz said as she continued her story. "Of course its him..." Lighting huffed. "Why do you have such a problem with him? Hes really sweet" Cruz sighed. "Cause I know something is up..." Lightning added. "Guys, can't we just eat breakfast.." Sally said quietly as they ignored her.

"How come you think something's up? Is it cause no one would ever like me and now that he does it makes it weird?" Cruz gritted her teeth. "Oh come on, I'm just-" "trying to look out for me, I know, but are you really? Or are you just holding me back?" Cruz said as she stood up and left.

Lightning sighed as he sat back in his seat. "...maybe he is just nice?" Sally said as she looked at him. "..I dont believe it, not one second of it.." He told himself as he walked away as well. Sally sat still, confused about what just happened. "...it will get better...hopefully" Sally told herself as she got up and started to clean up.

-meanwhile-

Jackson woke up to the sound of his phone buzzing. He checked it and saw a text from Cruz.

"Can't wait for Thursday~<3"

He smiled a bit as he kept re-reading the text.

After what seemed to be a hour Jackson made his way downstairs for breakfast. His house was silent, as always. He thought of getting a dog but never really stuck by it, so for the meantime, he was alone. He sat at the table as he ate a bowl of kids cereal, his favorite.

He looked at his camera roll and smiled at all the pictures he took last night. There were some of him and other racers, but the one that stuck out the most was a picture of Cruz on the roof. She was smiling and looking forward, probably admiring the view.

He couldn't help but smile as well. He then started to think... Maybe he did like Cruz...

His thought was cut short when he heard his phone go off. He checked who was calling, it was Leo. "What?" Jackson asked annoyed already. "Wow. nice way to say hi to the person who made you who you are today.." Leo mumbled. "I dont think that's a good thing, really" Jackson said as he started to clean his dishes up. "Anyways, how did it go with you and Cruz?" Leo questioned. "Fine..." Jackson mumbled.

"Fine?" "I got a date with her on Thursday" Jackson added. "Whoa, Look at you! She is going to be devastated when you break up with her" Leo laughed evilly. Jackson frowned and hung up. He didnt want to think of that, he never wanted to. He hated that he had to get into a relationship with her like this, after all, a piece of his heart was always reserved for her...

He heard his phone go off again, "WHAT NOW LEO" Jackson yelled to himself as he checked his phone. Instead of seeing Leo as the caller ID, it was Cruz! He blushed as he picked up.

"Hey, what's up?" he said in a flirty way. "nothing much" Cruz giggled on the otherside of the call. "I'm really hyped for Thursday!" she added in. "Same here" he added smiling. "So..what are we going to do?" she asked as she sat on her bed. "I don't know, do you want to go anywhere specific?" He questioned. "Nah, I'm good with anything, as long as its not some high end restaurant" she laughed as Jackson panicked.

He looked at a notepad on his table as he saw the reservations for the fanciest restaurant around. "Yea totally" he laughed as well as he threw the notepad into the garbage can. "So, what do you look for in a date then?" He asked as he walked to the couch. "I don't know really haha, I've never been on a date" Cruz blushed nervously. "Oh" Jackson blushed.

"So, this means I'm your first date?" He questioned as she laughed. "Yep, you better make it special" Cruz joked as Jackson laughed. "Don't worry, it will be" he said. "Cruz who are you talking to?" Lightning questioned. "Jackson" she replied.

"What?! Give me the phone!" Lightning demanded as he snatched it from Cruz. "Hey!" She said annoyed. "What? What's happening?" Jackson asked confused. "Is this Jackson?" Lightning asked annoyed. "Yes..?" He replied.

"This is Lightning McQueen and I want you to know that I'm onto you, I know there's something up with you" he mumbled. "T-theres no need to worry Mr McQueen..." Jackson lied. "There better not be.." He warned, "Lightning stop it!" Cruz screeched embarrassed as she snatched the phone back. "Sorry about that" she blushed embarrassed.

"No its okay..." Jackson laughed nervously. "Well I got to go train, don't think I'm going to go easy on you in races just cause I like you~" she laughed "same here princess" he laughed as she laughed more. "Well see you Thursday!" she sang as she hung up. Jackson smiled as he hung up, he started to think, maybe he needed to practice as well. He also thought of what Cruz said... "don't think i'm going to go easy on you in the races just cause i like you". He smirked as he thought of it more.

He looked back at his phone as it went off, it was Leo again. Jackson sighed as he picked up, ready to hear a rant about how he hung up on him, but he didn't care, all he really cared about now was Cruz. For once in his life he felt like it wasn't revolved around him, he liked it. As Leo yelled at him he couldn't help but smile.

"I think I touched a nerve" he thought as he laughed.
