I made this poem after a picture I saw in english class. Enjoy!
He stands there alone
Holding nothing, but a frame
Ten feet under the surface
He stands tall while the
The things around him begin
To crumble into rubble.
He doesn't seem lonely
But why does he stay?
He stands there alone
Most would quiver under
The cold waters presence
He does not seem effected
By its crushing power
He seems to be waiting
Waiting for who?
He stands there alone
Warm and dry, safe from
the things around him.
There is no bubble that
surrounds him, yet what
protects him? And what is it
doesn’t allow a single drop
to touch him?
He stands there alone
So close to the top
Yet his feet are firmly
Planted on the ground below
Maybe he waits for
Those in the picture to come
Maybe he waits just for
Someone to say hello.
Maybe his heart is so
Pure, that not even the
Dirtiest of waters can
Touch him. Maybe it’s
The innocence of being
Kid that keeps him safe
From the world that
Crumbles behind him
He stands there alone
But is he really alone.
