They say Life is like math; rise over run
You either rise to the top or run and cower at the bottom.
But I can't seem to understand it because
I keep running around in circles, but it's not from fear
oh no it's like a dog who chases his tail. He'll keep going
and never understands that he'll never get what he truly wants.
I want to be great I want to rise, I want to rise to the tops of trees, mountains, and skyscrapers.
I want to look down to see the others running around lost in confusion
and smile because I know I've risen to the top.
But there's one problem, there's this thing behind my back and at first I thought it was cute,
but every time I want to say hello it seems to run away from me!
and the worst part is, it keeps waving at me, taunting me, and just standing far
enough so I can't grab it! I stop and realize that I've been spinning again.
I' ve been spinning so fast that the ground beneath my feet has sunk in and I want to cry
why can't I just rise, fly, be ahead of the game something anything, but the bottom of the bottom!
My waving friend consoles me and as I look back at it I smile. Maybe dog isn't as stupid as
we thought. And Maybe he's just invented the greatest game of tag.
Because in all my life of doing complicated arithmetic I have never seen
a dog get angry at his tail and just bite it off.
So I spin again.
and again
and again.
because soon
I'll be so far down that the world
will flip and I will rise!
