Chapter 27: Waking Up

Start from the beginning

"Everyone's going to be so happy! You can't believe how worried we where.......I mean your friend Lance yelled at every single person and I was so ma......" she began talking quickly, but I cut her off.

"Wait! Where's Will?" there was a hint of sadness in my tone.

I didn't want to admit it, but I was kind of disappointed that Will wasn't here.

Carol stiffened as she began looking everywhere except at me, "Um....he was kind of...how can I say it....knocked out?"

My eyes widened, "Why?"

Carol sighed as she sat on the bed and looked at me.

"He....um after that....tackle.....he kinda went phyco and....um attacked the guy that knocked you out! He was mad and they began fighting and eventually shifted into their wolves so they had to get...knocked out with the darts!" she said quickly, though she wasn't done.

"He has been here every single day, just to make sure that your alright! He's been so sad, Eva! He is in some kind of depression and thinks it's his fault why you went into a coma! He said he should have been able to save you!" She whispered.

I looked at her, before groaning and running my hands through my hair.

She grabbed my hand, and my eyes went up to hers.

"I'm sorry," she said, and I knew what she was apologizing for.

"Don't," I hissed, "It wasn't your fault alright! I snapped at you, and......I'm sorry."

I whispered the last part, looking at the wall.

"Eva.....I..." I cut her off.

"No.....your my only girl friend I have had in a very long time, and I want us to be friends. But somehow I always seem to screw it up! I guess you can say I have a temper, but you were helping Ethan, Carol! Can you imagine what that did to me? Seeing my only friend helping someone that was really mean to me!" my heart rate began moving quicker, or so the heart rate monitor beeping increased.

"Eva, they....they needed help! Everyone turned their backs on those two! Sure, they used to be part of the popular gang and now that one of our potential alpha's has turned their back on them, so has the whole pack! The...they all just forgot about them!" Carol whispered.

I growled lowly, just thinking of Ethan and Megan made my blood boil.

It angered me that she was right, but I couldn't help but not want to listen.

"Carol.....let's just... You know what? I don't even really remember what we're fighting over, so screw it! I want us to be friends okay?"

Her eyes widened along with a small smile, as my red headed friend hugged me and we made up.

She suddenly jumped out of her seat, and ran out the room.

I chuckled a bit, my chest hurting from the large intakes of breathe.

"....Yes! She's awake doctor!" Carol's soft voice said loudly.

The door opened again, revealing a woman with a white lab coat and black short hair.

"Oh! Quick, go get the nurses!" the doctor said to Carol, before she turned to me.

'Welcome back, Eva," she said kindly and began checking me.

***

Carol pulled me along with her, her arm wrapped around my waist.

The doctor had said I was healing greatly, and she offered a wheelchair which I declined, and lied saying that my back felt fine.

It took a lot of effort, but as soon as we exited the building Carol wrapped an arm around my waist, and put half my weight on her.

I found it funny that she looked like a small girl, but she was pretty strong.

"Wow! What are you a body builder?" I giggled, as we made our way across the school.

She giggled to, and we headed towards the cafeteria. Carol had said that we were currently having lunch so we headed their first.

I had made sure to change in some airy basketball shorts, and a skin tight black tank-top that hide the bandages wrapped around my abdomen.

We had stopped at the library, where all of Carols' friends where and had a mini squealing period and everyone ebgan filling me in on what had happened.

Everyone was happy to see me, and in the corner Ethan was sitting with Megan in his lap and were looking at the ground.

I had wanted to say something, but I didn't know what.

I wasn't over what they did to me, and I just didn't want to further complicate it.

Slowly, we reached the cafeteria door, and Carol pulled it open.

She was going to help me to my table, then was going to go back to the library to hang out with her friends.

I was pretty happy that we were friends again, though I didn't really want to hang out in the library.

She slowly helped me through the cafeteria, near the wall so I didn't cause too much attention, and soon enough my table was in sight.

Carol seemed to get tense when she saw the table, and I knew she didn't want to go there.

"It's okay Carol. I can go the rest of the way," I whispered to her offering a small smile.

She breathed out a sigh of relief and then nodded and was out of the cafeteria.

I made my way over to the half silent table. Normally, it was loud, but it was quiet right now.

Standing there, I watched as some of the guys gasped and with wide eyes looked at me.

What made me sad was that I was standing right behind Will, though he was sulking, and starring right at the table his jaw clenched.

I wanted to tell him that I was fine and hug him to make him feel better.

I painfully made my way over to the empty spot next to him, all of the guys silent and smiling at me.

Will didn't seem to notice me, though I noticed his red puffy eyes and clenched fists.

It tear my heart apart to see him like this, so I did the one thing I knew how to do.

I wrapped my arms around him, and spoke the most randomest thing at that point.

"Did you know that cats' pee glows under a black light?"
