My mind wandered to my past. Before Marianna.

*Twelve Years Ago*

"Mum! Can I drive?" I begged with my bottom lip pouted out.

"It may be your birthday, Bradley, but I'm not getting arrested for letting an eight year old drive a car!" She reached into the back seat and messed up my hair. We put on our seat belts and pulled out of the drive way.

"Are you excited to see your friends?"

"Of course! I know I'll see them next month when school starts again, but I still miss them." I frowned.

"Well, we still have a little while. Go to sleep." She murmured and I put my head back, closing my eyes.

"We're here!" My mum cheered and I woke up, yawning.

I looked out the window, seeing all the amusement park rides. I smiled widely and she parked.

"James and Tristan are in line for the Twister."

Tristan was my best friend and James was his fraternal twin brother. He's also a best friend, but not as much as Tristan.

As Tristan's blonde hair and James's brown came into view, I ran to them, tackling them in a hug.

"I missed you guys!" I laughed and pulled away.

"How's your summer been, Bradley?" James asked formally. He has always been the more mature one of the three of us.

"Fantastic! We went to Barbados again. That's always fun. Even got a tan!" I stuck out my arm for them to see.

"A little." Tris responded with an impressed look then stuck out his own. "Still I ghost!"

"How are you two twins?" I questioned and raised Jem's tan arm to Tris's.

They both shrugged in sync. "I look like mum." James answered.

"I look like dad." Tris replied.

"Well, you both still surprise me."

After several rides, we were getting hungry. Our parents led us to a food stand, which held mostly sweets.

"I want cookies and popcorn!" Tristan and James cheered at the same time.

"Can I just have some French fries and ice cream mum?" I asked and she looked down at me.

"Of course, my love." She smiled warmly.

After we got our food, we began walking away from the cart when something caught my eye.

Or someone.

Resting outside the gate was a man with tattered clothing and a beard. He looks tired and like he hadn't showered in weeks.

I instantly knew he was homeless.

I bit my lip as I stopped walking, looking down at my food before making my way to the man.

I stopped in front of him and he looked up at me.

I held out the large thing of fries. "Here."

He gave me a curious look.

"I have ice cream. You can have the fries." I explained and grinned at him.

He gratefully took the food and said thank you before I walked away, grasping my mums hand.

She bent down and whispered in my ear, "That was very kind of you." And kissed my head.

*Present*

I felt hot tears run down my face and I wiped them away, wishing I could be able to do that today.
