Chapter XXVII

Hazel’s Point of View

I’m graduating! Today is going to be so special and I couldn’t have did it without some people. I sat down at my vanity. For makeup, I put on NARS larger than life volumizing mascara, with Red Velvet Aerin matte lipstick. My hair was curly. I got up and walked into my closet. I slipped on ivory Vendetta dress, with white glaring bowtie ankle strap pumps. I threw on my cap and gown.

 Jas’mariee walked into my bedroom, wearing a nude/black lace peplum dress, with her cap and gown over it with black Christian Louboutin Dafsling 160mm glitter slingbacks. I grabbed my Tiffany & Co platinum 2 carat diamond stud earrings and put them into my ear.

 ‘’We made it.’’ Jas’mariee said smiling.

 ‘’It’s been a long journey but it was worth it.’’ I said.

 ‘’Haze, I gotta tell you something.’’ She said.

 ‘’What’s up best friend?’’ I asked.

 ‘’Princeton and I did it.’’ She said. I stared at her blankly.

 ‘’Forreal?’’ I asked.

 ‘’Yeah, we were kissing and making out then it just happened.’’ She said.

 ‘’How was it? Did you use protection?’’ I asked.

 ‘’It felt great, he was a whole different person. He was dominant yet gentle. Yes, we use protection, I’m not having no babies yet.’’ She said.

 ‘’Oh my gosh, Marie.’’ I said.

 ‘’Let’s get to going.’’ She said. I walked out of my bedroom, downstairs. Adrian was riding with my dad since my mom was out doing some stuff.

 ‘’You lwook pwetty.’’ He said.

 ‘’Thank you, Adrian.’’ I said. I opened the door and walked out. I decided to drive my dad’s Lamborghini Aventador. I got into the driver seat and put the key into the ignition. Jas’mariee got into the passenger seat. I pulled off and turned up the radio.

 ‘’The boys are already there.’’ She said.

 ‘’I’m so nervous.’’ I said.

 ‘’It’s alright, we got up there and get our diplomas.’’ She said. I pulled into the parking lot of the school. I parked the car and took the key out of the ignition. I got out of the car and walked toward the building.

 ‘’Marie, there she goes.’’ I said, looking at this girl, Samantha. that disliked me. She’s the daughter of Robyn Fenty a.k.a. my dad’s ex girlfriend. She looked over at me and gave me a stank look. I rolled my eyes and walked around the building. Chresanto ran over to me, picking me up.

 ‘’I’m so proud of you, babe. You look hot.’’ He said. He was wearing his black suit with Golden Moments. Jas’mariee told me that I needed to wear heels so I did.

 ‘’Thank you, hun’.’’ I said.

 ‘’So, you should get back there. I’ll be cheering you on.’’ He said. I smiled and pecked his lips. Jas’mariee hugged Prince and we walked off to the other students. Keshawn and Michael walked over to us.

 ‘’You’re graduating with us.’’ He said.

 ‘’I know, I’m so happy, nervous, and scared.’’ I said.

 ‘’It’s cool, just let it go.’’ Michael said. I could tell that nigga high. Our assistant principal ran over to me.

 ‘’Hazel, I need you to do valedictorian speak.’’ She said.

 ‘’Okay, but I don’t have nothing to say.’’ I said.

 ‘’Say personal things and stuff about your experience at the school.’’ She said. I nodded and she walked away. I paced the floors.

 ‘’I’m going to blow.’’ I said.

 ‘’I need everyone to get in their ABC order.’’ Our principal said. We all got into our order and I was beside Michael since his last name was Brett. Our principal was doing her speech, till’ I heard my name I zoned back in. She started announcing our names.

 ‘’Well this is it, little bit.’’ Mike said. He calls me ‘’little bit’’ because I’m shorter than him.

 ‘’I know I’m nervous and glad.’’ I said, smiling.

 ‘’Hazel Brown.’’ My principal called. I walked onto the stage and seen my family. I smiled and walked toward my principal. She handed me my diploma and shook my head. I walked off backstage. Jas’mariee came up to me and squealed.

 ‘’We’re graduates.’’ She said.

 ‘’I know, but I got to give my speech.’’ I said.

 ‘’You’re gonna do get believe me.’’ She said. I smiled and waited nervously. We sat down in the chairs, smiling. Jas’mariee was texting Prince. I was thinking about what I was going to say in my speech. I’m really smart but I don’t know what to say.

 ‘’Now for our last speech is our valedictorian, Hazel Brown.’’ She said. I got up and walked onto the stage. I stood in front of the podium. I took a deep breath and began talking.

 ‘’Good afternoon everyone. Wow, what can I say? It’s been four long years of nothing but hard work. I was the top in all of my class and I managed to be on the step team. My family has did nothing but support me. In my junior year, I met my wonderful boyfriend, Chresanto or Roc Royal. He has push me to be the best. My dad, Chris has did nothing but push me to my hardest.’’ I said, stopped to wipe my tears then I continued. ‘’My mother has helped me become the woman I am today. My best friend, Jas’mariee has been there for me for about ten years now. My education is going to better my future. I have already gotten accepted to UCLA. I have to say I am grateful to have gone to this school.’’ I said crying.

 ‘’That was a heartfelt speech. Everyone, I would like to say it was a honor to have had a experience with your kids.’’ Our principal said. Everyone came on stage and we threw our caps in the air. I walked down the stage to my family. I hugged Chresanto.

 ‘’Baby, your speech great.’’ He said smiling. I smiled at him and we kissed passionately. I can’t believe I’m a high school graduate.
