Ashley's POV:
I closed the front door behind me, walking deeper into the house, toward the group. "OMG YOU GOT A BOYFRIEND!" Tiff said jumping up and down. I rolled my eyes and nodded. "What's his name?! Is he cute?!" she asked. "Jordan Collin Cruz. Yeah, he's pretty hot in my opinion." "Ladies please, no boyfriend talk until after our mission." Nate said. I rolled my eyes commenting on what he said. "Listen Natey, we're helping Cindy out, not killing the president you dumb fuck." it was his turn to roll his eyes at me. I shook my head and sat down on one of the chairs and listened to what Nate was saying. "Okay so Ashley, you're going to come in with me. You go in the house and talk to Brit and figure a way to get Cindy out. Sammy, Luke, you two are gonna be outside in the car waiting. Samantha, Tiffany, Chloe, you three stay here and make sure nothing happens. Call me if you see anything suspicious going on, and I mean anything. Lights flicker, weird noises, anything guys."
Chloe, Tiffany, and Samantha nodded their heads begrudgingly, knowing there was no point in arguing with Nathan. When Nathan is this determined, he can occasionally become more stubborn than me and that says a lot. "We all understand the plan?" Nathan asked finally and we all nodded. "Now we wait till 8:30 pm. That's when Ashley, Sammy, Luke, and I are leaving the house." he said that more to the girls. I guess he was making sure they knew they had to stay behind. I shrugged and got up, "Let's watch a movie to ease everything out. The stress and shit." it took them a couple of seconds to register what I said, but in the end, they all nodded their head. Don't get me wrong, I love Cindy, she's been by my side since freshman year and vice versa, and yeah I'm really worried for her, I always worry about her, but I know everyone else is stressed, and me being stressed out adds to the plate, so to ease them, I have to be the calm and optimistic person in this situation. So while everyone went into the living room to pick a movie for the group to watch, Nathan and I walked into the kitchen. "I know what you're doing. With the watching a movie and shit."
I shrugged and grabbed a few bags of popcorn, unwrapping the plastic from all of them, sticking one of them in Nate's microwave and pressed the button that read popcorn. "Someone has to be optimistic. Don't mistake it for me not caring. You know more than anyone how grateful I am for her. For one she has helped me through so much of my bullshit. Secondly, she showed me to you guys. She gave me three brothers when one of them didn't show his love for me. You out of everyone should know that I want her back here, safe and sound more than anyone else. She's my best friend. She's as important as Jenny, you, Curly, the other two idiots over in there, and even Jonathan."
I explained to him, pulling out the already popped popcorn bag and sticking another one in there. I grabbed a big bowl, dumping the popped popcorn in the bowl. He nodded his head. "I know Ashley, I didn't mean for it to come out like that." I smiled and nodded, "Kid I know, it's fine." I told him with a small smile on my face. "What do you mean kid? I'm older than you." "And you're forgetting, I never really gave a damn." He shook his head and pulled out three, 2-liter bottles from the fridge and set them down on the counter as he searched through his cabinets for the cups. After he pulled out enough cups for all of us, he started to carry the bottles and cups to the living room, probably to give them to the group.
I sighed, closed my eyes and rubbed my temples with my index finger and middle finger. When I heard footsteps coming towards the kitchen I quickly stopped my actions and pulled the popcorn out of the microwave since the beeping went off. I poured it into the bowl when Nate came back into the kitchen. "That the last of it?" He asked. I shook my head and popped in the last popcorn bag into the microwave. "This one is the last one. Just go out there and start the movie without me. I'll just wait here for the popcorn to finish. He looked at me for a couple of seconds then nodded. "Alright." He left and that's when I let a sigh escape my mouth. My phone vibrated from my back pocket. I reached for it and checked it to see it was a text from Jordan.
