I quickly realized I hadn't retrieved my wand quick enough before it fell and rendered myself useless. She was growing closer and closer to our hiding spot. Draco gripped me by the shoulders and looked me seriously in the eyes.

"Meet me in your common room," he whispered, blurting the words out like rapid fire. "I'll be there, I promise." His whispering caused Bellatrix to whip her head towards the corner. He pushed me around the corner, and I ducked under a spell she threw at me. I could hear him shouting at me to run. I heard the brawling still going on around me, and I continued to dodge what I could.

I ran through the hall, checking to see how everyone was doing. Many, many people were now gathered in the great hall, being that the battle had commenced yet again. Most tried to take safety, while others - said goodbye to their loved ones who died fighting for what they believed in. I jogged down the stairs, but I was stopped. The grip around my wrist almost caused me to stumble down a few steps. I turned, ready to fight with my bare hands when I saw Hermione yank me behind a corner.

She held up a finger to her lips and soon the hallway was filled with nothing but high heeled clicks. The snaps were far too familiar and it made my heart beat faster. My eyes explained everything as I turned to Hermione.

She was supposed to be in Azkaban with high end security.

"Where's my backstabbing, little brat?" her high-pitched voice sounded, and I closed my eyes. My palm cramped, and I closed it, remembering the painful memory. "Let me see you, girl. I know you're in here!"

A large green zap hit right next to our heads, causing the wall beside us to explode. We let out a shocked shriek before sprinting down the opposite hallway. Umbridge cackled and ran after us, throwing her shoes off in the process. It was genuinely like a scene in a horror movie.

We whipped around a corner, and Hermione pushed me up against the wall. My eyes glanced down towards a vial in her hand.

"Drink this," she muttered, glancing cautiously and nervously into Umbridge's direction. "It will help you - I promise. Get to somewhere safe," she alerted, gripping my shoulders and pushing me off in the direction away from the approaching enemy. I shouted for her to hurry as I ran, holding out my hand behind me for her to grab, but I felt nothing but air.

I furrowed my eyebrows when I didn't welcome her friendly palm. I turned around, watching the scene unfold. A shriek escaped my mouth as I watched the blue surge of light strike her in the middle of her chest. My ears defeated me, and I heard nothing but muffled ringing.

Her eyes went blank as her body fell to the floor, and I wished only for her to be fighting right by my side. I threw myself into a classroom, closing the door as quietly as I could. All my strength and sorrow was forced into my hands and the door closed with a small thud.

Umbridge's shoes tapped through the halls and for a split second, they stopped in front of the classroom. She pressed her ear to the door, and I held my hand over my mouth to quiet my breathing.

Fortunately, she'd scampered back to the war, and I quietly started to sob. Through my blurred vision, I gazed down at the glowing, blue liquid in the vial. I uncorked it, allowing a gas to escape it. It smelled fishy, but I knew I would have to drink it.

Once the liquid seeped down my throat, I felt completely different. My blood twisted, as did almost every characteristic in my entire being. A tingle tickled at my arm as my hair not only grew but turned a jet black color. I lifted my hand to see my nails grow and turn a gross yellow color. My stomach tightened as I became thinner. My skin became darker. I rose to the Mirror of Erise, noticing my unfamiliar appearance. Nothing changed for a few seconds like it should but after a few moments, the appearance flew away and transformed into a layer of clouds. One by one, every one that was lost in the war appeared with a weak smile.

My fingers reached my bloodshot and exhausted eyes, touching the bags that layered beneath them. My mind jolted to the one thing I had to do.

Meet me in your common room. I'll be there, I promise.

My eyes widened, and I immediately thought of Hermione's death, not wanting it to happen to Draco, as well. I threw the door open and started sprinting through the hall. I saw many fall, but I couldn't stop. I ran up the stairs, cursing at them when they switched. Right as I arrived at the case, it started to move. I glanced back at a deatheater approaching me, knowing I had zero defense. I stumbled backward, not giving myself time to prepare and leaped onto the ascending stairs. I barely made it, catching the railing before hurling myself over and towards the common room entrance.

I pressed my ear against the door, hearing multiple zaps and shouts coming from inside. I gulped and pushed the door open with a loud thud as it hit the wall. A familiar pair of orbs met mine and instead of feeling his warm, thankful eyes on mine, I only sensed anger and terror. The other he was fighting fell to the ground.

Draco shot a spell at me, being a seriously powerful one. It wizzed over my head as I leaped out of the way, falling to the floor. I looked at him in fear.

"Draco!" I shouted, finally hearing what I sounded like. I stopped a bit, recognizing that I sounded nothing like myself. My eyes widened as I saw him raise his want yet again. "Draco, no!" I screamed and tackled him, throwing his wand out of his grip. "Stop, Draco, it's me!!"

I threw him off of me as he sent a punch into my stomach. I quickly recovered and rose to my feet, not allowing myself to hurt him.

"I said, stop!" I shouted, grabbing his wand off the floor as he approached. I felt the wand burn in my palm as a spell shot through it. A young spell whipped through the air and struck him in the stomach. My eyes widened as he fell to the ground. I threw the wand away towards the way, relieving myself of the weapon. I fell to my knees, picking his body up and holding his head in my hands.

"No, wake up. It's me, please," I begged, looking for any source of life but his body remained still. His eyes opened slightly, and I let out a grateful sob. "It's Mad - "

My eyes widened as I felt a confusing pain bolt through my chest. My eyes lowered slowly towards it to see a small red dot expand more and more. His eyes found mine as he ripped out the sharp dagger. My body fell off of his and to my side. I choked out another sob as I looked at him in fear. I felt my body start to shift again, my eyes being the first to change.

I saw the realization strike his face as his eyes widened and a shout escaped his mouth. He fell to his knees, pulling my head into his lap once again . . . but this time, I didn't have the resurrection stone in my palm.

"Son of a bitch!" he shouted, wanting to punch anything. Normally, he'd want to kill something, but he'd already done that - to the person he swore to protect. "Keep your eyes open - don't you dare die on me."

A tear escaped my eye as my body jolted. His hand cupped my cheek, allowing a handprint of blood imprint itself on my cheek.

"I guess this is just the price we pay for love, huh?" I chuckled, my lips coating themselves in the crimson paint. "You should have read the terms and conditions."
