"Over the course of my long life, I have come to believe that we are bound forever to those with whom we share blood. And while we may not choose our family, that bond can be our greatest strength or our deepest regret. This unfortunate truth has haunted me for as long as I can recall."

Mississippi River 300 years ago

"What do you make of that?" A man asked his fellow friend.

"No banner, no flag, floated in out of nowhere. A miracle ship." Another man answered.

"Why is it just sitting out there?" Man 1 asked.

"I suppose we ought to find out." Man 2 responded with a smug grin. The two men boated to the ship with a few other men and went below deck, "Where in the hell is everyone?" He said looking around, "deserted. Which makes everything in the hold legally forfeit."

"Take what suits you." They all look around and see two coffins, "Open it up," The man said wearily. When they opened it there was a young man with grey veins throughout his body and a dagger sticking out if his chest, "What the hell?" The man jumped back.

Suddenly a whoosh sound was heard and a man was gone and then another. The two last men were alarmed and as one went to run aboard deck to leave, he started to climb up but looked back at the other man before he got snatched up with a scream.

A blonde girl appeared, "Hello," She had veins under her eyes and was wiping blood from her mouth, "Hm. . .Lovely to see such a handsome face after a long journey. Can I eat him, brother?"

"I'd rather you didn't," A handsome British man said behind the frightened man who turned at the sound of his voice, "There's no need to be afraid. You'll do exactly as I say. You'll remember nothing," The vampire said as the no longer scared man repeated his words, "We've had a very long journey. Wherein which, unfortunately, we lost all of our crew. Therefore, I would ask you to kindly transport our belongings to the shore."

"What kind of hell demons are you?" The frightened man asked.

"We're vampires, darling," The blonde girl replied. He turned, "The original vampires. Rebekah, Elijah," She nodded to the handsome man behind them. "Our brothers, kol and Finn, may they rest in peace," She looked to the coffins.

"Are we saving the best for last?" A voice interupted.

"And our half brother, Niklaus," She responded bitterly. They all looked up to see a dirty blond, blued eyed man, he was holding a man dead in his arms blood all over his mouth while smirking, "Ignore him he's a beast."

Niklaus laughed and dropped the man down the stairs, "We've fled Europe and survived the seas. Would you rather I arrived hungry on the shores of our new homeland?" Niklaus asked.

"Niklaus, your manners are, as always, without equal. Sir, would you be so good as to tell us where it is that we have landed?" Elijah asked.

"The French colony of Louisiana off the shores of a town they've named New Orleans," The man responded.

"Well thank you so much," Elijah started walking away then turned around, "Oh, I do recommend that you find yourself further assistance for the luggage. My sincere apologies," He then walk up the stairs leaving the man alone. The man looked around at all the dead men that joined him earlier.
