The thing about GOT7, at least to Seulgi, was that they were great. Talented. Catchy. But there was one thing she didn't like about them. Or, rather, someone.
His name was JB, and she disliked him strongly. She could still remember the day her feelings of hatred grew. It was backstage for one of their music shows. She was walking back from the bathroom to Red Velvet's waiting room when she saw a glimpse of GOT7 in theirs, the door wide open. She clearly saw JB, the small-eyed, poodle-haired, stick figure of a leader mocking Red Velvet's song and performance. He was dancing their song 'Dumb Dumb' rather, well, like a dumb dumb. He was laughing, and his words made Seulgi freeze.
"This is the stupidest song I've ever heard. Who creates this kind of junk?"
From that day on, Seulgi hated his guts. She even contemplated printing a picture of his face, taping it to her dartboard, and throwing scissors at it. But that would raise a lot of questions from the members as well as the mental institution, so she decided against it.
She understands constructive criticism. She wasn't a girl who couldn't take a hint. But what JB said was straight out bashing. She did not and will not tolerate such behavior from anyone, even if it is from a GOT7 member.
"Umm, unnie, why are you growling at GOT7?" Joy, who was passing by the living room, asked seeing Seulgi on the floor watching the music show broadcast of GOT7's comeback.
"Huh? I wasn't...I wasn't growling. Must be my stomach," Seulgi tried to convince the taller girl who shrugged and walked back to her room. Seulgi sighed in relief and stuck her tongue out when she saw JB appear. Ugh, darn him and his good footwork skills. She wished he would trip and fall.
Seeing him on TV made her even more upset. Look at him, trying to be so innocent. If only people knew what an ugly personality you have!
She decided to go to a nearby cafe because lattes always calmed her down. To her dismay, GOT7's song was on, and it had to be JB's part right when she walked in. Secretly going to the back of the cafe after she ordered, she was scrolling through social media sites when someone knocked into her shoulder, causing her to drop her phone on the table.
"I'm so sorry, are you okay?" The person apologized, making sure no other harm was done.
"Yes, I'm fi--" Seulgi stopped when she noticed who was standing right in front of her.
J freaking B.
Her face froze, her mind not letting words come out of her lips. He was wearing casual clothes with a snapback on his head, worry apparent on his face. He seemed to recognize her right away, apologizing again.
"What a coincidence to meet here, huh?" JB flashed her one of his eyesmile grins. How dare he pretend to be so nice when he trashed my group before.
"Uh, yeah," Seulgi abruptly answered, looking anywhere but him. How was she supposed to act around him? She couldn't pass off as rude, but she literally wanted to punch his face.
"You don't seem like you like me very much," JB noticed her cold expression and how her eyes kept averting his.
Seulgi decided to tell him the truth. She grabbed his arm and led him to the family restroom, locking it as she dragged him inside.
"What are we doing--"
"Look," Seulgi cut him off, shooting him an icy glare. "I heard you trash-talking my group backstage at one of the music shows."
JB was silent for a moment, confusion on his face before realizing what she meant.
"Oh."
"I'm not going to lie, ever since then, I've really despised you. You put on this sweet facade, trying to be all innocent and righteous, yet you can still say those kind of things towards a group trying their best. Yes, I know we're like factory-created idols," Seulgi's eyes welled up with tears. "I know we're not original, and we don't create our own music, but we're just trying to become something. I've been a trainee for seven years, and almost my whole life was dedicated to debuting. So, please don't say stuff like that." The girl had broken down, and she felt weak for crying in front of JB. Dammit. He must think I'm some fragile girl who can't take a hit.
"Seulgi," he started, offering her a tissue before continuing, "I'm so sorry. I didn't know that you heard me, and I never intended for you to. I wasn't exactly hating on Red Velvet, it was more so me hating on the song. It was really immature of me, and I sincerely apologize. Please don't cry."
Seulgi sniffled as she used JB's tissue to wipe off her tears. She looked up at him with a slight pout on her lips, "Do you really mean it?"
"Yes," JB nodded, a desperate look on his face, "I understand how you feel about how hard it is to debut. I shouldn't have trashed you guys like that. Please forgive me."
"Okay..." Seulgi reluctantly sighed. "You're somewhat forgiven."
"Somewhat?" JB questioned.
"You're going to have to do more than that if you want me to fully forgive you," Seulgi smirked, and JB was relieved to see that she was joking around.
"Your wish is my command," JB smiled at her.
And from that day on, Seulgi started to hate JB a little less and less.
