"Gosh, Jongin! Stop, stop!" Seulgi cried out as she used her hands as a shield. The water kept spraying at her, droplets hitting her face as she dodged his shots. Jongin, being Jongin, ignored her and cackled wickedly as he aimed the hose at her. He was finally able to get her wet when she almost lost her balance and had to let her guard down.
"Kim Jongin, you are so dead!" Seulgi chased after him as he dropped the hose and ran to his backyard. His parents were currently hosting a barbeque and had invited Seulgi's family to come (she would've come even if her parents were busy. She's been friends with Jongin for over ten years. His parents were basically her parents).
"Mom, you have to help me!" Jongin hid behind his mom (as if that would help; he was literally two heads taller than her) as she laughed at the two. Seulgi chased him around in circles, and the adults watched them with amusement.
"You're on your own, Jongin," his mother replied. "Whatever you did, you probably deserve it."
"Mom!" He whined as he ran out of the backyard to escape from Seulgi's wrath. She finally caught up to him and grabbed the tan boy in a headlock.
"Ah-ha! Got you!" She cheered in victory as he gave Jongin a noogie. He pouted as his hair got messy, and he tried to pat it down to tame the frizz.
"Honestly, for such a skinny girl, how do you run so fast?" Jongin muttered as he slung his arm around her shoulder. She clicked her tongue and flexed her arm.
"It's all on the biceps," Seulgi joked as the two walked into his home. The place buzzed with family friends of the Kims. Seulgi and Jongin greeted them with bows and friendly welcomes before going into the kitchen and getting drinks.
Seulgi took a large sip of lemonade before letting out a relieved sigh. Jongin just chuckled at her.
"You're really one of a kind, Kang Seulgi," Jongin pinched her nose lightly. She scrunched her nose in response.
"I know I'm special, Kim Jongin," she bragged as Jongin wrapped his arms around her waist, resting his head on her shoulder. He held her as they gently rocked back and forth.
"What if someone sees us?" Seulgi whispered, and Jongin just nuzzled his head into the crook of her neck.
"Let them," he responded back boldly. Seulgi rolled her eyes playfully as she patted Jongin's head. His eyes were shut as he slowly became intoxicated with her scent. The mix of her cherry blossom scented shampoo and perfume made him never want to let her go.
"My parents are here," Seulgi reminded him. He groaned as he reluctantly released her and sent her puppy dog eyes.
"Are you not going to tell them?" He leaned against the counter, watching Seulgi untie her ponytail, letting her curls fall down past her shoulder. Of course, Seulgi looked nice in any hairstyle, but he preferred when she let her hair loose and free (she was so much hotter that way).
"You know my dad," Seulgi talked to him as she finger-combed her hair, "He's strict about me not dating until I graduate from high school. Just two more months."
"Okay," Jongin sighed as he held her hands and pulled her towards him. "But I swear, if that Johnny guy flirts with you at school, I might not be able to control myself."
"Tsk," Seulgi shook her head, poking a finger into his cheek. "You're so cute when you're jealous, Jonginnie."
Before Jongin could react, some adults had come into the kitchen. The two teenagers quickly broke apart, trying to look natural as they started a random conversation about homework (cause all two high school seniors ever talk about is homework).
"You guys look so cute together, don't you think so, Jihu?" One of the ladies commented, calling Seulgi's father's name. He turned towards her and agreed.
"Of course, but my baby girl isn't on the market yet," he reminded the lady who chuckled in response.
Behind the two chattering adults, Seulgi and Jongin exchanged a knowing smile, their pinkies looped together.
Just two more months.
