Salvatore Swan was complaining about how Cookie Cow (who went by the nickname "Cook") was taking so long to read "The Life and Times of Bossy Cow", a book he'd been wanting to read for a long time, along with his pal, Gary Goat. They both were big Bossy Cow fans. Cook said he could borrow it as soon as she finished.

"I knew the end was coming for a few days, because she was coming into the room, with the bookmark further back in the book. I think she kept taking her time just to bother us," says Salvatore, who slept on a couch next to Cook every night, hoping to borrow it, when Cook had nodded off. But Cookie had the nasty habit of rolling on top of the book, just as she fell asleep, so Salvatore would become quite frustrated.

Finally, Gary Goat went ahead, and bought his own copy, which he and Salvatore happily read together, taking turns reading aloud. Salvatore was glad to be able to once again sleep in his own bed, and now knew never to try borrowing a book from Cookie Cow, ever again.
