NIGHT MUSINGS

"Will you be my muse?" I ask,

In response, a lone distant star twinkles,

Lightning flashes, thunder rumbles,

A dew droplet on a green leaf trickles...

The night sky, a star-spangled tapestry,

Witness the motion of heavenly bodies in perfect euphony,

The moon casts its crescent light,

Driving away the velvety darkness of the night.

Presently, the clouds gather overhead so low,

Obfuscating the moon's glow,

Like tiny presents from the heavens,

Rain droplets,on the world,descend.

The gentle gust of wind ruffles my hair,

Tender and soft like a mother's care,

The rain lashes out at me,

Baptizing me, while I take refuge under a tree.

Behold the water droplets,

Untainted, unblemished, their beauty depriving me of a better epithet,

Listen to the song of the rain, listen to it sing,

Revel in the euphoria it brings...
