Why can't I tell you?

Why can't I reach out?

Why is it that I only get a whisper,

Whenever I try to shout?

I'm so far away,

And I want to reach you,

But all I have is my wooden boat and paddle,

          And the endless deep blue,

But you reach out to me,

I guess,

I'm just transfixed on society and what everyone wants me to be,

But why should I care,

About what they say?

Someday I'll grow up,

And I'll look back on this day,

I'll think about what I said,

I'll think about who I was,

I'll think about you,

And If I liked you just because,

I'll think about what made you so special,

What made you catch my eye,

I'll think about how I loved you,

I'll think about why,

I guess the world is full of waves,

Lurking among the deep blue sea,

And that you were the only one,

Who didn't want,

What everyone else wanted of me
