A Change of Heart

Chapter 4

Hiccup

I still can't believe it. There is a Night Fury inside of me!

How is it possible? As I left Emily, Gobber came to me.

"Ah, Hiccup! It's just the boy I want to see!" He said.

I was totally confused. Why does he want to see me?

"You will be in Dragon Training with your cousin and the other teens! Chief's orders." He said.

I groaned, "Great...."

I followed him as I enter the arena.

Snoutlout notices me and said, "Hey! What's he doing here?!?"

I replied sarcastically, "Take a wild guess, cuz."

"It was your Dad's idea, wasn't? Man, he really hates you." Snoutlout jeered.

As I was about to punch him, Gobber said, "Today's lesson is learning about each other's strength for use in battle with a dragon."

He lined us up and He said, "We'll go start with... the Gronkle."

Fishlegs said, "Wait a second! Are you going to teach us first?"

The Blacksmith chuckles, "I believe in working on the job."

He releases the Gronkle as everyone run across the arena.

The Gronkle came directly at me!

She said, "Your scent... you had the scent of a Night Fury.

The Dragon Prince."

The what? I never heard of a Dragon Prince before.

"I guess that you never heard of the legend. It has been foretold that a boy who inhabited a soul of a dragon within, who will defeat the Dragon Queen once and for all."

Is this really what's happening to me? Was I really destined to be a hero?

"I think you mistaken me for someone else."  I replied to the Gronkle.

"You have to trust me. You have to tame the Dragon inside of you."

As the night falls, we gather at the fire.

"There is a tale of a were-dragon. A person with that ability is dangerous." Gobber said.

As he continues, I felt pain in me. The Night Fury is bursting to raid.

I see my skin turn into black scales.

That's when I knew I can't let anyone see me like this.

I run from the others as my transformation was complete.

I shoot a plasma blast as I fly through the sky.

"Night Fury!" Astrid cries.

"Get Down!" Gobber said.

Astrid

The Night Fury was attacking again.

"Gobber, what shall we do? Stoick's not here!" I said.

"Get all the children to safety first!" He instructs me.

The black Night Fury spots me gathering the children and lands.

Something about his eyes. They were green and somewhat familiar.

The Night Fury was staring right at me and decides to attack me.

As he looks at me, he hesitant and then flew off. Was I being spared? If so, why would he do that?

"Astrid! Are you all right? That Night Fury almost killed you!" Snoutlout said, worried.

"I'm fine, Snoutlout. I'm fine." I reassure him.

As I see the surroundings, the Night Fury didn't do a lot of damage from the night before.

If he shows up again, I will kill him myself.

Hiccup

I flew away from the village and enter to the Cove. I couldn't handle the Night Fury inside of me.

"Why you spare that Killer? We could've finished her completely!"  The Night Fury said.

" I spared her because I like her. If I did something to her, I'll never forgive myself."  I explained.

"Hiccup, is that you?"  I hear a familiar voice.

I turned to see it was Emily.

"Are you all right? You looked dreadful."  She said.

I couldn't tell her that I killed her kind. She wouldn't trust me anymore.

"It's kind of complicated. How's your wing?"  I asked, changing the subject.

"Still bleeding, but I think I'll manage." She replied then she notices my tattoo in my shoulder.

"So.. it's true. The Dragon Prince lives. Oh, Hiccup, this is a big responsibility."  She said.

"Uh, care to explain to me what is a Dragon Prince? Was he like a Night Fury?"  I ask.

"Yes. He is, but he was searching for someone to inhabit with to control his powers to defeat... the Dragon Queen."

"The Dragon Queen?"  I said, totally confused.

"Oh, she's very determined to get what she wants. Believe me, Hiccup, you don't want to meet her."

I flew to the other side of the Cove to sleep. Is this really I meant to be? Is this a curse as a punishment to kill the Night Fury?
