Sherlock
John grabbed a small, tatty notebook out of his pocket and I gave him a pen that was lurking around in the inside of my coat. After a short test that neither of us thought would work, but we did it anyway, he wrote down a list of things for me to read. Or, at least, a ‘few’ to start me off.
As much as I liked John, I don’t think he understood the definition of a ‘few’:

I ran a finger over the paper, reading over all the names of the books. John seemed to be doing the same, like he was unsure if these were the right one.
Then he gasped.
“What?” I raised an eyebrow.
“Oh, shit- sorry, I didn’t mean to leave a kiss. I do it to everyone. Shit, just ignore-”
“- It’s fine. It’s not a kiss, it’s a letter ‘x’.”
“Yeah, but it means-”
“- John,” I laughed. “It’s fine. I don’t mind it there.”
