Chapter 51

Entering our old training facilities was easy. The facilities were originally an old lumber mill situated on the edge of a small lake. It consisted of two buildings, one was a three—story structure that housed the training facilities on the bottom level, the labs on the second floor, and living quarters on the third level. The other building was a converted silo, where we held interrogations and holding cells. Pallets of old, rotting lumber scattered throughout the area between the buildings and along the edge of the woods along with outdated equipment. The lumber mill was the best kept secret headquarters of CIF until we were betrayed and infiltrated. We were taken by surprised and even though our loses were few, the hostiles achieve their goal; kidnap our scientists. After that we abandoned the mill and moved CIF back to the council territory.

My team was tasked with the job of entering the main building first and taking control of the security room. The security room was on the bottom level, which we gained access through an old sewer line.

"We are in place." I notified all teams. I peered over the shoulder of Grant as he accesses the video feed from different parts of the building. It definitely was not abandoned. Just as we thought, the councilmen were being held in a room on the second floor a few doors down from a fully functional lab. They were two guards inside of the room and four more standing guard outside of the room. The lab had half a dozen of workers along with a team of armed guards stationed around the room. I glance at the other screens to determine how many men were in the installation. The front lobby on the first floor held about twenty armed guards and walking patrols of two on each floor. The third floor seemed to be emptied.

I checked behind me as two other team members were disposing the bodies of the security guards into a closet. We didn't have much time before one of those patrols made their way back to the security room.

"We are in place." Klaus voice filled my ear through my earpiece.

"Grant do you see Klaus' team." I whispered. He pointed to the corner of the screen and notice the shadow of his men outside the back corner behind the silo. "Team 2 move to your next point." We watched as Klaus lead his team around the maze of old logs and to the other side of the building. A group of armed guards were slowly moving from the silo to the main building. They would spot Klaus team in a matter of minutes. "Team 3 it's a go."

Our eyes moved to the upper screen where the camera was pointed out at the grounds of the front entrance of the building. An explosion of one of the cars parked out in front went off. It sent a chain reaction as we watched each car go up in flames. The response was immediate as men poured out of the building. The guards that almost stumbled upon Klaus team changed direction, running through the back doors of the building taking the shorter route to the front.

As the men ran out in all the chaos Creed's team picked the men off one by one, shooting them in the head. When their fellow comrades started falling around them they blindly started shooting into the darkness and through the blaze of the fire. Several had made it outside and found covered behind the burning cars and continued to shoot. A few had shifted into their wolves and ran through the barrage of bullets. I checked the screen to see that Klaus' team had gotten into the building amid the fighting.

"Team 2 the councilmen are being held two doors down from the lab. Two guards inside at six and ready, the council are at nine o'clock." Klaus team moved quickly down the empty hall stopping before they reached the designated door. One of the men shifted into his wolf and then crashed through the door taking the guards by surprised. A couple of shots went off, but the wolf ripped into the men in a matter of seconds. The rest of Klaus' team moved in a retrieve the unconscious councilmen. "Team 3 the package is coming out." Team 3 was still engaging with Carson's men.

Before leaving our post, I wanted to make sure that the everything was clear. "Check the silo we had cells in there." Grant did a few clicks and the screen showed the inside of the silo, that at first glance looked emptied.

A group of Carson's armed men walked into the frame dragging a limp body and opening one of the cell and shoving the person into it. "Let's go. Grant stay and be my eyes. I'm headed for that silo."

"Pesch that is not our assignment." Jackson was a member of the CIF who was strictly a rule follower. He never could alter from the plan when in the middle of the mission. I'm surprised he is still alive.

"Don't tell me what our assignment is. I helped planned this great rescue mission. I'm changing it slightly. Come on." They followed me to the set of stairs and we made it to the first floor. "Jackson will finish out the plan and help out Team 3. You two with me." The five us split up and I headed out the exit door at the bottom of the stairwell, while Jackson took his men towards the front. My team was tasked with surrounding Carson's men by taking them surprised from their rear.

"Team 2 what's your location?" I scanned and ran flushed to the side of the building towards the back. I could hear the extra sounds of gunfire as Jackson and the rest of my team joined the fight.

"We're out."

"Change of plans. I'm headed to the silo. They are holding someone in there."

"Eva, no! Wait for backup." Creed roared over the coms system for all to hear.

"Creed we will meet back up as planned. Pesch out." We made it to the doors of the silo. I plastered myself on one side of the door frame and the other two flattened themselves on the other side. "Watchtower report."

"Entry clear. Five guards in front of the cells on the second floor."

Eva dammit, wait! Creed's voice broke through our mindlink.

I'm going in, Creed no distractions. I put up a mindblock.

The door was slightly ajar and I pushed it further opened with my foot. I dropped to my knee positioning my body halfway through the door. My hands wrapped around my guns and sweeping in all directions ready to shoot anyone in my line of sight. The room was empty and I slowly enter the building with my two mates on my heels. I waved them on to check the rooms on this floor and I started for the stairs that led to the holding cells.

I stopped a couple of steps from the top and pulled a smoke bomb from my leg holster. Popping the top of canister, I lobbed it out onto the second floor filling the second floor with smoke. The guards pinpointed their locations making them easy targets. I laid on the floor at the top stair and shot all five guards.

"Watchtower is that all of them? How many in the cell?"

"Too much smoke can't tell. There are no cameras in the cells." How did I overlooked that the cameras were removed from the cell? I went to the third cell door that I remember from the security footage. I tried the door but it was locked. I needed the key. I went to the bodies of the dead security guards and started searching for the keys. I found a group of keys on the fourth body and began trying to unlock the door until I found the correct one. The lock clicked and pushed the door opened ready to help the injured occupant. Instead I was not greeted by an injured person but a room full of armed men with their guns aimed at me.

"Nice of you to join us Pesch." The leader sat in a chair his armed crossed against his chest.

I sheathed both of my guns in my leg holster. I crossed my arms over my chest and a smirk appeared on my face. "Commander Ricker why am I not surprised."
