Chapter 42: Scepter

"I thought you already returned it!" Mei nudged her friend by the sides, but thanks to the cold silence inside the roomㅡeven the boys heard it too. Yuta clenches his jaw, gripping onto the fragile stacks of paper in his hands. "You knew?" Taeil scrunched his brows, feeling a tug in his chest which caused him to step up.

"Mei, you knew about this too? Why didn't you just tell us.. why didn't you tell me?"

A small sigh left her lips as she gazed in his eyes, never once had she seen such pain being expressed in them. Taeil was in disbelief, all of the guys were. This book was not something that should be taken easily, fall in the wrong hands and everything is over.

It hurts the members, ever so deeply to even think of having the girls doing this towards them. The boys had sworn to guard them with their very own lives but in return, the girls can't even repay them with a simple favor.

Knowing how unfair it would be to use the term of the girls as a whole, they've decided to stick to Hyerin in particular.

"I swear on my ancestors, I already returned it several nights ago. I have no idea what's it doing back in here, please, you gotta believe me!" Hyerin stressed, but after all of thisㅡher words seemed more like another white lie.

"What have you seen?" Yuta snaps, taking a large step ahead as he glares into her wary eyes. His anger has blown off the roof, Yuta fears he might even physically attack the heiress if no one dared to come in between.

"Calm down, Yuta." Jaehyun menaced, knowing that this wasn't going anywhere if they continued putting pressure on the princess. "Don't tell me that!"

A chilling air gushed inside the room as an invisible force seems to have thrown the members across the cabin, hearing them wince in pain as their backs slammed against the wooden walls.

Instinctively the girls took a step back, hiding behind each other as Yuta's eyes glowed in an icy shade of blue. "What the-" Jia blurts, furrowing her brows at the sight of her guardian. He's never acted this way before and it scared them to see him shaking from the anger boiling in his blood.

"What's going on?!" Chenle's shocked voice snapped them out of the daze, the young boy gasps seeing how furious the man in the centre looks. Yuta growls, his chest rising and falling frequently from inhaling deep breaths in order to calm himself down.

"What's wrong with you?"

Mei questions, feeling the omnious aura coming from her own friend. There was no reason for him to be so harsh on Hyerin, even if she had commited a gravely sin. Everyone makes mistakes, so why was he lashing it out on her like that?

Yuta snorts loudly, rolling his eyes that soon transformed into their normal dark state. His gaze turns to the cabin crew curiously peeking into the room through the small windows, Yuta glances over at his members over his shoulder before muttering.

"Meeting, now."

The atmosphere was tense enough to feel the weight on their shoulders as Yuta slams his fist on the wooden table in their small cabin downstairs. "For goodness sakes, let it go. At least we know we didn't lose it!" Ten says, hoping his friend would see on the brighter side.

"The pages are missing, Ten! How do you expect me to let it go so easily when we'd be skinned alive if the witch was here with us?!" Yuta roars, slamming the fragile book on the table before standing up.

It not like the members weren't on board with his emotionsㅡthey were equally hurt and angry too, but they found it rather childish of him to be acting this way. Hansol crossed his arms against his chest, all he could think of was how she got her hands on it in the first place.
