Chapter 24: Pretending

We arrived at the beach but I still feel uneasy and I cannot hide the sadness in my eyes,

He smiles and kisses me like nothing’s wrong, like nothing happened. I can’t bear it, who can?

It’s almost 7:30 and we are all sitting in front of the bonfire, we left our bags inside our hotel rooms and went directly to the beach afterwards.

Luke keeps on asking me what’s wrong but, how can I answer him without melting down? I don’t want to make a scene; this is the first time after a long time that me and my friends will have a peaceful night hanging out, peaceful for them but for me? I don’t think so.

“Why don’t we sing a song?” Michael exclaimed,

“I don’t feel like singing guys.” I answered cutting him off

“Oh c’mon Myle! Don’t be a kill joy! Remember what you said in the car?” Helen replied,

Yeah I remember! Before I saw something…Oh never mind!

I groaned,

“5SOS versus Rough Diamonds, I like the idea!” Ashton exclaimed,

I don’t like any of this at all!

“Yay I’ll judge!” Ella exclaimed,

“That’d be great, babe!” Michael exclaimed then pecked her on the cheek,

At least one of us gets a happy ending, I think.

“So who’ll sing first?” Luke asked,

“I really think this is not a good idea” I exclaimed,

Ronnie groaned “Oh c’mon! please, please, please?”

I nodded, I really don’t think this is a good idea,

“Heads or tails?” Calum asked,

“TAILS!” Ronnie answered,

Calum tossed the coin, and with dumb luck, it’s tails! We get to pick who sing’s first.

“So?” Calum asked

“5 sauce first!” Helen answered,

“WOOOH YAY!” Ella shrieked,

Luke whispered something to Michael then Michael whispered something to Ashton then Ashton whispered something to Calum,

Luke and Michael grabbed their acoustic guitars, Ashton sat on his beat box and Calum just sat on the sand

Luke started strumming the guitar followed by Michael then after awhile Ashton started the beat,

Luke started the song with his smooth voice,

“I’m gonna pick up the pick up the pieces, and build a Lego house.

If things go wrong we can knock it down. My 3 words have 2 meanings,

 there’s one thing on my mind, it’s all for you.”

Then Calum started his part, “It’s the start of a cold December but, I got ya to keep me warm. If you’re broken I’ll mend ya and keep you sheltered from the storm that’s raging on, now.”

Luke started singing the next part and when he sang the “And after all these things I’ve done, I think I’ll love you better now” I felt an arrow stuck inside my chest, it makes it harder to breathe.
