VAL POV

Laurie and I were sitting against the wall of the rehearsal room taking a break. We had been sitting for a while and we needed to practice more.

"Laurie, we should get up and practice," I said.

She didn't move. She sat glued to her phone.
"Laurie," I said a little louder.

"What?" She asked startled.

"Who are you texting?" I said laughing.

"A friend," she said.

"What friend?" I questioned looking at my hands.

"Alex."

"Is Alex a boy or a girl?" I asked being a protective older brother.

"A boy," she said blushing.

"Oh lord, how do you know him?"

"He was a part of the Olympic swim team."

"Be careful nugget. I don't want you to get hurt."

That was true. I am very protective of Laurie and I am a guy and I know what us men can do to a young lady. I have been dreading this as long as I have known her. I am terrified.

"Ok bro, I will." She said putting her hand on my shoulder.
