Chapter one:
My fingers curl at the side of the door gripping at it tightly. It's past midnight, my bed time long gone, but I can't sleep, not with all the yelling outside my room. The doors hinge's protest and creak as I open it slightly. My hazel curls cover most of my face but I can just see through the messy tangles of my hair. The house is dark, but I can see the dimly lit shadows, broken glass scattered across the hallways, traces of blood smudged all over the walls. My teeth sink into my chapped lips as I watch his shadow grab a fist full of her hair. She screams in protest while she pleads him to leave her alone.
“Please, please, I didn't do it I swear-"
His reply, a slap that sends her crashing to the ground, her face finally comes to view. I watch the blood ooze out of her while I stand behind the safety of my bedroom door, motionless.
"Not your fault? You’re the reason for everything, it’s because of you. I swear to all things holy I will make you pay! Ruin you! And take everything you love away from you! Then I’ll kill you and her! Even if it takes me the rest of my life. I will make you pay!"
His voice echoes throughout the large house. Her, her, heris me. I'm her. Clutching onto Mr. fluffy I take one step back while my other hand holds the doors side firmly. I wince at the sudden sound of yet another vase shattering across the ground, followed by screams. I peek my head outside the door one last time only to see her limp body lying across the ground. Pieces of broken glass pierce into her abdomen. She's pregnant.
Her body shakes violently, her wails and screams filing the empty silence. I take one step forward but stop, his voice ringing in my headI’ll kill you and her.Iclose the door.
My eyelids fly open. Every night for the past nine years I’d wake up around four in the morning in a curled foetal position, arms clutching my abdomen, face damp from my tears. I let out a sigh before rolling onto my back. It's only a nightmare, only a nightmare. I release the grip I have on my stomach, while I try to control my heavy breathing. Now, back to the sleeping part, I can actually get some now since my nightly, nightmare is over for today. Sleep at last.

Squinting my eyes Istudy my canvas standing on the easel before cautiously scanning my room. Making sure to capture every little detail, from the packed boxes to the un-assembled bed frame, all the way to the scattered pieces of clothing. I smile at the results.
"Perfect, now for the door..."
Starting with small brush strokes, I finish painting the door frame, spinning on my heel I reach for the paint. The door opens abruptly, which has me knocking down my palette. My smile turns into a scowl while I stare at the paint splattered on my bedroom floor.
"Good mornin', mornin', morn-oooh I’m guessing I might have caused that?"
My gaze leaves the mess before me to meet Bianca attempting to hold an innocent face, while shepoints at the splattered paint.
"Morning B, and yes you did cause my paint to spill, you had me startled there for a second." I give her a smile before bending to pick up my paint brushes. Bianca stands there, watching me, biting her lips anxiously.
"Sorry..."
"Don’t worry ‘bout it, it’s not like I’m gonna sleep here again."
Making her way towards me she sighed before giving mea tight hug. I hugged her back, forcing the tears away. We stand like that in a comfortable silence before she speaks again.
"Do you have to go?" It's barely a whisper, but I hear her.
"Bianca you know why we’re leaving..."
