Jason nodded. "That's fine, let us know if something comes up."
With that Fox left shortly after and Alex merely sighed as she ran a hand through her hair. "Shit where did this morning go? Everything was good again and then... this happens. Fuck."
Jason merely looked at her before saying. "Well you know what they say: Shit happens."
Alex gave him an unamused look. "That does not help Jason, anyway I should probably find Charla and see how she is, she's probably freaking out by now news travels fast in this school after all. She must be freaking out." she paused and looked to her friend. "Will, you going to be okay? Do you want to come with?"
He slowly slid off the desk and readjusted his beanie. "Nah, I probably should head home, Mom said she needed help with the store today and I'd rather tell her the news myself, unless she already knows." He sighed and put his hands in his pants pockets. "Either way, Duke will just keep doing this crap, and I'd rather be prepared to throw him out when the time comes."
Jason didn't look too convinced. "You sure?"
He offered a slight smile before fist-bumping him. "Yeah, I am, thanks man. Talk to you both later."
"Is it really okay to just let him go like that?" Alex asked Jason as they headed to the library to see Charla.
"Will's always been a lighthearted guy, not wanting things to get to him, but he has it moments, kind of like you. He never told me about the incident involving that girl, but I knew it really bothered him. since then though I couldn't help but notice that he changed slightly, trying to give everything 110% even if it was something small, it soon made me realize, that Will was no longer living his life just for him. but I think he was living his life for her, that girl whose life was practically taken by a family member. Some might not see it that way, but Will did. As long as we're there for him when he needs it, I think that's all that'll really matter."
Alex just smiled at him kindly.
This perplexed Jason. "What?"
She shook her head. "Nothing, it's just sometimes I tend to forget that you really have an old soul inside of you. You really look out well for others Jason, you should be proud."
"If that is meant to be a complement then I'm taking it as one."
She laughed. "It was, now come on, let's go find Charla."
When the reached the library however and asked around she and Jason found that Charla was no longer there.
"You did say she would be here right?" Jason asked.
"Yeah, I did." Unless she's already heard what happened...
"You looking for Charla?" a student in their same year asked as he walked up to them.
"We are," Jason said. "Have you seen her?"
The boy nodded. "I did, but she left shortly after people began to freak out about a supposed killer, which is stupid, it's all over the school but no one really knows if it's the same guy who even did it in the city."
"People love gossip." Jason said as he folded his arms across his chest.
"You said you saw her, did she say at all where she was going?"
The student shook his head. "No, but she didn't leave by herself, another student left with her, he looked rather concerned actually."
Alex looked to Jason before asking. "Do you know who he was?"
