Charla heard a number of voices, the sounds of people shouting a car screeching to a halt and the strong smell of gasoline mixed with copper.

"It's going to be okay Charla..." She opened her eyes and saw her brother, who looked to be bleeding profusely from his back, as he smiled at her with warmth, the light slowly fading from his hazel green eyes. They were trapped in the car, crushed metal pressing against them like sardines trapped in a tin can unable to escape. "You'll be okay, help is coming soon. I'll keep you safe until then. I promise..."

With a gasp of breath Charla opened her eyes to see a white tiled ceiling in her field of vision. As she tried to slow her breaths a cold sweat ran over her body. "Just a dream..." she said before letting out a sigh as she ran a shaky hand over her face. "It was just a dream... god."

"For it being just a dream you looked as if you were having a nightmare."

Charla turned her head and came face to face with a man with slight tanned skin wearing a doctor's coat. The man had dark brown hair that was tide back in a small ponytail and brown eyes that looked very friendly and yet and he was dressed in shorts and a T-shirt while wearing a doctor's lab coat over top.

"Where am I?" she asked feeling suddenly uncertain.

"Nurses Office, you collapsed in the hall and then brought here by some students."

"I see," Charla said as she sat up in bed. Before running a hand over her face. "And how long was I out for?"

"Two hours." He told her plainly before Charla cursed. "Hey now, you shouldn't say such things like that at your age. It wasn't all bad."

Oh how Charla wished that was true.

"So, do you know why you fainted?"

Charla remained on the bed; her gaze remained to the floor before she looked at him and answered. "I suppose it was stress Mr. uh..."

"Norris," he said. "But I find being called Mr. Norris sounds so dull, call me Jack. I'd rather prefer that then anything else."

"Is it a normal practice for you to let students call a teacher by their first name?"

Jack smiled. "Technically I'm not a teacher, just the school's nurse, or doctor, which ever you prefer. But in all seriousness you should lie back down and rest for a bit more. You don't want to have another spell like that again."

"It won't matter." She told him and Jack froze before looking at her with a confused stare. "Things like this always happen, no matter how much rest I get, it won't change anything."

"So this happened at your old school quite often then?" Jack asked. "I know you're the transfer student but I found it rather surprising, normally students leave for other schools not the other way around and come here."

"My circumstances needed me to be here, that's all really."

Jack looked at her with a slight frown before shrugging. "Alright then, but just so you know. A friend of yours nearly had a panic attack when you collapsed."

Friend? Then Charla recalled Alex. Right I have a friend...

Jack looked back at the girl and noticed that she seemed to be smiling warmly almost as if she wasn't aware of it herself because when she had the girl shook her head and her expression went back to the way it was before. He was about to say something when the bell rang. And after it had the sound of someone running could be heard in the hall.
