Charla and Nina had just finished eating dinner when the front door opened, and instantly Nina jumped up from her chair with a smile on her face. "Dad's home!" she then ran to the front entrance only to then suddenly come back and hide behind Charla.
Charla merely looked at the girl before Isaac entered the house. "I'm home, what smells so good?"
"I made dinner," Charla said only to draw up short when she saw the silhouette of a man, one that sent a chill down her spine as she instantly got up and extended her arm past Nina only to then realize it was someone else entirely. She let out a sigh of relief and lowered her arm before running a hand through her hair. What am I thinking? Of course it wouldn't be him, he's in the city.
"Charla," Isaac spoke drawing her attention to the stove. "You made this?"
"Uh, yeah I did. I figured some cooked meals would be better than pre-made ones. I hope that's okay with you." her gaze then went to the man that she had mistaken for someone else. Who was this?
"Ah right you haven't met before." Isaac then turned his attention to the man that looked to be in his early to mid-twenties. "This is Claude Winchester; he's my partner in the police station."
The man named Claude looked to Charla, his dark brown hair was partly combed to one side as he wore glasses. He was dressed in a white dress shirt with the sleeves partly rolled up and black vest with matching pants and red tie he also seemed to be wearing a pair of leather gloves. It was a little odd but what held her attention were his golden eyes, they looked to be the same type of eyes from someone else she had met.
"So you are related to Mordecai then."
Claude nodded. "He's my younger brother." He then extended his hand to her's. "It's nice to meet you Charla."
She took his hand. "Same to you."
His eyes narrowed on her hand almost as if he was looking at the way she was holding his hand in response.
"Is something wrong?" Charla asked him.
"No," he said as he let go of her hand. "I had heard of you but the things I have seemed to have conjured up delusions, you are not at all what I expected to see."
She just looked at him confused. "What?"
He adjusted his glasses. "Forgive me that must have sounded appallingly rude to you. What I meant to say was that I had heard that you've learned self-defence but you look so... normal."
Charla looked down at herself, currently she was wearing a white T-shirt a navy blue hoodie and black sweatpants the clothes didn't really scream out form fitting, if anything some might not have been able to tell what her gender was.
"I just changed out of my school uniform that could be why I look underwhelming to you. Sorry about that."
He shook his head. "No need for apologises when I was the one at fault for saying such things to you when we have only just met."
Isaac merely sighed. "Claude you don't have to be so formal with this, I've told you this before many times."
He looked to the older man with an arched stare. "And I've told you that this is who I am. You are more than capable for requesting a different partner if you do not like how I do things..."
He frowned. "I don't have a problem with how you do your work."
"Um..." Nina began drawing both men's attention. "We just finished eating but there's still some food left over, if you want you can both eat you're probably hungry right?" she looked warily at Claude.
