Finding You

Chapter~~19

            There was a knock at the door. “Come in” I called. I turned and saw the boy stand in the doorway.

            “Do you need me to go look somewhere today, sir?”

            “Yes today will be the last day I ask you to do this for me.” I sent him out on his way, with a new area to search through. Tomorrow was Friday, and very soon Navia would be in my arms. Hours passed and I waited as patiently as I could. Two hours in I broke more furniture in that room. I tore the headboard from the bed and ripped the legs from the nightstand. That room was a complete disaster. It did not make me feel any better but I did not feel as violent.

            Time ticked by and so did my patience. All day I snapped at the staff and walked around the house in a foul mood. I was walking down the hall when a hand closed around my neck. I fell to my knees and clawed at my neck. There was nothing there but the skin on my neck. Who is hurting Navia? I went into her mind and a fat man was practically strangling her. He was very ugly and dirty, with dark brown hair. He was looking down at her with a crazy look. Navia was just getting enough air to stay conscious. The fat man moved out of the way and the bald man was standing there watching this happen with a big grin on his face.

            “I thought we had come to an understanding. Navia was going to stay with me. I told you to stop looking for her.” The smile vanished. “But my men found him snooping around another building of ours. A few minutes of torture and he gave you up.” He picked the boy up by the back of his shirt. He was bloodied and looked about to pass out. The bald man took out a knife and thrust it into the boy. His eyes widened and then they went dull. He threw the boy’s body and it landed next to Navia.

She began to freak out. I could feel the panic and fear rise in her. Her arms were shaking and tears were pouring out her eyes. I tried to sooth her and calm her some but I did not think she could hear me. “Now you have pushed my hand. She is going to pay dearly for your mistake.” After that I was pushed out of Navia’s mind.

            “Damn him” I yelled, coming back to my body. I flew to my feet. I should have looked before I did because while I was in Navia’s mind some of the staff had gathered around me. I threw them in the air along with me. They hit that wall making a terrible thud. I stared at them furiously. I have to time to help them back to their feet. I called my wings and they pushed through my skin. I was out the door in a matter of moments and I took off toward the governor’s house. I landed on the front step and almost knocked down the door I knocked so hard. I left a dent in the wood.

            Officer Menton answered the door. “Lucas I wasn’t expecting you to come by today.” He sounded a little like did not want me here.

            “I might know where the kidnappers are holding Navia and Angela.” He moved aside and let me in.

            “Where?” he asked anxious.

            “Well I had a boy that worked for me check some old neighborhoods and they caught him. They said that it was not where they were but it was by another place that they owned. They might be near.”

            “Thank you Lucas.” He looked to the ground and spoke into the sleeve of his jacket. He told someone to send officers over to the neighborhood I told him of.

            After that I left and went home. I tried to channel Navia’s emotions but I could not feel anything. How is this possible? I should always be able to feel her emotions. I usually feel them without even trying. Has he found a way to block me from keeping track of her? My head was starting to hurt. I drank some blood that I kept on hand but it did not help. I decided to go out and find some fresh blood. The best way to acquire the freshest blood was from some of the local hookers that worked the streets. It was three hours until the sun would set and they would venture out to their evening jobs.
