Finding You

            I cannot go out and search for her. They would only continue to hurt her. But I cannot sit here and do nothing. How can I look for her without them finding out? I could walk. But if they see me they will know I am looking for her. I could hire someone to look for me.

            The phone rang, and broke me out of my thoughts. Someone picked it up and the ringing stopped. A maid entered the kitchen. She was old, and had white hair.

            “Sir there is a Mr. Spencer Menton on the phone for you. He says it is very important that he talk with you.”

            “Thank you. How long have you been working here?”

            “Twenty years sir.” I nodded and she walked out of the room. I went down the hall and to my study.

            I picked up the phone and said “Mr. Menton.”

            “Lucas, a time and place has been made to switch the money and information for Angela. Can you come to the governor’s house?”

             “I will be there momentarily” I said and hung up the phone.

             I rushed out the door and took off towards the governor’s house. It took me six minutes for me to fly to his house. I landed on the front step. I took the police officers by surprised and they jumped back. Officer Menton was waiting outside for me.

            “Lucas, thank you for coming so quickly.” I nodded my head. He led me inside and into an empty room. “The governor talked to the kidnaper just minutes ago and he said they would switch on Friday at midnight.”

            “Why is he waiting so long to switch? Friday is three days away.”

            “He didn’t say but I have to guess that he wants to keep the governor worried and panicked.”

            “Where is it taking place?”

            “He said at Andrew Thompson Park. He said to meet by the concessions stand.”

            “That is a very odd place to choose. Did you get some fake documents to pass off as the real ones?”

            “Well actually I got the documents that he asked for but they aren’t complete. The most damning part is still hidden in the file.”

            “Thank you for keeping me a part of this.”

            “You said earlier that he took something from you. What did he take?”

            “My Myx.” Officer Menton looked at me shocked and silent. “I will stop by Friday around eleven. After that I will be working solo.” I left officer Menton, and returned home. I sat on the bed in a spare room.

            Should I send someone out to keep searching for me? In three days I will be able to find Navia, but I do not know if I can wait until then. If they get caught Navia could get hurt again. I have to at least try to find her.

            I called for all my staff to assemble in the main room. They stood in a line and I picked out who I thought looked the least conspicuous. It was a boy that looked to be in his early twenties. He was of average height and seemed very quiet. I pulled him aside and dismissed the rest. I told him what I wanted him to do. He agreed and went on his way. I sent him to the park to check things out. While he was out I walked around the house trying to distract myself from the constant worry I felt for Navia. I have forgotten how many rooms are in this house.
