Finding You

Chapter~~19

             I want her to be sitting on the bed waiting for me, like she so often used to. When she sits there and looks up at me with those pure green eyes my I do not feel cold anymore. Her warmth and kindness seeps into me and I want to hold her in my arms. There I know she is safe. It feels like part of me has been ripped away. Inside me everything is frozen. I feel empty, I have no purpose without her.

            Tears formed in my eyes and rolled down my cheeks. I let my misery bury me. I had not the strength to fight it. I sat down on the bed and cried. I have not cried like this since mother tried to kill me. I remember the disgust and pain in her eyes. I remember how she swung at me and nearly did kill me. She took my father’s spear and threw it at me, just missing my body. I can still feel the panic and sadness from that night. I can feel it like it was just yesterday. I loved her, but she hated and feared what I had become. It felt strange thinking about mother, I had not thought about her for over eight centuries.  

            The memories of my mother hurt my head, so I put her out of my thoughts. I must focus on Navia and finding her. I wiped the tears from my face with a washcloth. I threw the stained cloth to the ground and exited. Being in that room without her was depressing. I was going down the stairs when I felt a terrible pain on my wrist. It was so sudden and painful that body locked for a moment I and I tumbled down the rest of the stairs. My vision blurred and my muscles tightened. I looked at my wrist to see blood pouring out. But I was not in my house I was in some sort of a metal room. Navia was awake and someone had hurt her. They slashed her wrist. My fangs and my wings emerged simultaneously. Navia’s chin was lifted up and the bald man was right in her face. He had an unstable look on his face with a big smile. This man has gone mad.

            “I know how Demons and Myxs work with each other. I know a shock like that would have pulled you into her head. So listen up Demon.” His grin was getting bigger and bigger. “I heard you’ve been searching for your Myx. I don’t like that.” His smile turned to a frown. “If I ever hear about you flying over the city again, she gets hurt. I only gave her a small cut this time. Next time she might not be so lucky.” His smile returned, and he laughed. He backed up a little and I could see a knife in his hand dripping with blood. I growled and unknowingly made Navia growl as well. He stopped and looked at her with crazy eyes. “Now honey was that you or your Demon?” Navia’s lips moved but I couldn’t hear her. He slapped her and her head bounced against the wall.

             Navia was already in terrible pain from her wrist, the slap didn’t seem to intensify her pain too much. Liquid began to run from her forehead. I was so angry but I couldn’t do anything. If I do anything while I’m still connected to Navia she will continue to get hurt. Damn him.

            The man took Navia’s face in his hand and squeezed hard. He made her look at him. His face was close enough to kiss her. “I already told you she is staying with me” he said in a rough voice. A white cloth came over Navia’s mouth and she struggled against it but she was getting closer to unconsciousness with every passing second. She eventually lost and I was out of her mind. I was back at the bottom of the stairs. I had fallen from about the middle of the stairs. My arm was broken and twisted behind my body. I got up and snapped my arm back into the proper position. It instantly began to heal. I was starting to feel better but I still felt shaky.

            I need to feed. My stomach jumped at the thought of blood and my throat seemed to dry, begging for the sweet refreshing liquid. I went to the kitchen and found the blood that I kept hidden in the back of the refrigerator. I poked two holes in the bag with my fangs and quickly drank it down. I sat down on the ground of the kitchen and thought.
