How can it be that there is no trail as to where she is? Where might they take her? I doubt they would take her to a house. Would they take such a risk as to have two hostages in such a crowded area as a neighborhood? That seems too risky. No they would most likely take them somewhere, where they can make noise and no one would ask questions. An abandoned building or maybe near a construction site. If they mean to trade the governor’s daughter back to him they have to stay near. Even if they don’t they would stay near. They need to pick up what they are asking for. Or they would have someone stay behind to switch their goods. If I follow whoever shows up to give the governor his daughter back, to their hideout I will be able to find Navia.
I went to the governor’s house. He lived in a large tan house with gates at the entrance to a long driveway. There were police officers everywhere. There were three officers at front of the gate, three at the front of the house, two stationed at the back, and who knows how many inside. I landed in the middle of the driveway and walked to the front door. The cops looked at me but let me pass. I knocked on the door and almost instantly the door swung open. A police officer with his gun drawn answered the door. He looked at me for a few moments and then put his gun down. He moved aside and let me enter the house. He led me to what looked like the main room. There were three officers standing against the wall and, the governor, his wife and a small boy sitting on the couch. The adults were focused in a telephone that was on the coffee table in front of them. The small boy was looking at me with wide eyes.
The police officer that escorted me in cleared his throat and said “Mr. Marteps there is a Demon here to see you.” The governor looked up at me with blood stained eyes and bags under them.
“I wish to ask if I may be a part of your investigation.”
He nodded his head. “Please help the police find my daughter.” His eyes looked tortured. “I will do anything. Please” he begged. “We just want our daughter back.” I nodded my head and walked out.
Before I took off the police officer that answered the door called out to me. “Demon.” I turned and looked at him.
“I go by the name Lucas.”
“Okay, Lucas” he said unsure. “My name is Officer Spencer Menton, I work for the FBI. We could use some help trying to find the man and his accomplices that took the governor’s daughter. The man called this afternoon and asked for a million dollars and access to some ancient information. The information in question is very much classified and the distribution of it could mean the crumble of faith in the government. That’s when I was sent down here to try to handle the situation. The government will never let out the information that he’s asking for. I need all the help I can get on this case.” He took out a business card and handed it to me. “If you find anything call me at this number.”
I looked down at the card, then back at him. “I will kill this man once I find him. And I will. I will find him and make him wish that he never saw her.” My fangs extended. “He has taken from me as well, and I will make him regret it.” I flew off and continued searching.
I checked every neighborhood, every street, and every alley in the city. I tore through dumpsters and went through tunnels. I talked to people asking if they had seen her. There was no trace of Navia anywhere. I went back to the house. I opened the door and the sharp and sweet smell of chemicals and blood hit my nose. I stood in the doorway staring at the cream colored doors that led to the ballroom. How much I hate these doors. Just for what they let through them. I tore them from the hinges and threw them across the room. They landed with a loud thud that echoed through the house. It is so quiet. I ascended the stairs and went into to the master bedroom.
