“Wait Lucas” Angela called. She was only halfway up the stairs.

She is slowing me down. I waited for her to get to the top of the stairs. I pulled her forward. I walked down the hall and the further I went down the warmer I felt. When I passed the fifth door to my right I seemed to get colder. I went back to the door and pushed it open. There was a huge bed in the center of the room. I ran over to the bed and on it saw Navia. As happy as I was to see her my heart dropped. Navia was pale with dark purple bags under her eyes. She barely opened her eyes and looked at me. It seemed like it took her a minute to recognize me. A small smile lifted her lips and then disappeared. She closed her eyes and looked as though she had fallen asleep. I noticed slashes on both her wrists.

She’s bleeding out. I grabbed her wrist and as soon as our skin made contact I began to feel much better. I healed her wound but Navia did not move. I grabbed her other wrist and healed it. Still she did not move. There was huge blast and then there was a tearing feeling in my stomach. Another blast and then pain through my whole body. I fell to my knees and looked down at my stomach. Two holes were in my stomach with blood seeping out. In the distance I heard Angela scream. Navia heaved up and her eyes opened wide. She screamed and tears poured from her eyes. She is receiving most of my pain. (Since we were separated so long coming together like this is like starting over again. Everything is getting passed between us.) I stood up on my feet and looked behind me. The bald man was standing there with a smug smile on his face. He had a shotgun in his hands.

“I figured that you would come for her. That’s why I’m going to kill you tonight.” He dropped the shotgun and pulled a feather out from his back pocket. I expected to lose control and drop to the ground but nothing happened. He looked at me confused and shocked. I smiled at him.

I flashed over to him and broke his arm. He tried to fight me off but I was much faster than he. He tried to land punches on me but he missed and I took him out easily. I popped his left shoulder out of place and broke his foot. He was on the ground howling in pain within minutes. By the time I was done fighting him the wounds in my stomach had healed.

He clenched his teeth and asked me “Why didn’t the feather work? It’s exactly what I did last time.” I picked up the feather on the ground and looked at it. Everything looked as though it would work. It was a dove’s feather and the cross was upside down. I smelt it and found the problem.

“The blood that the cross is drawn in must be in virgins’ blood.” I let go of the feather and it slowly floated down and landed on top of the man.

I went back to Navia who was still crying in hysterics. Angela was talking to her trying to calm her but Navia did not look as though she was even aware that Angela was there. She was staring at her arms weeping. Her sobs were starting to get so loud it was almost screaming. I grabbed her shoulders roughly and made her look at me. She looked into my face for a minute and then she really began to scream. She struggled against me trying to escape my grip.

Why are you fighting against me lover? I only want to help you. What has happened to you in these few days to change you?

“Navia, it is me. I am here to take you home were you are safe” I whispered as soothingly as I could make my voice sound. She just kept fighting me, so I let her go. She fell onto the bed and wept into the covers. The bald man was still on the ground screaming in pain. I was thinking of how to make him shut up without killing him when officer Menton and two other cops burst through the door.
