When we touch I feel alive. My heart feels like it is actually beating inside my chest and warmth is spreading through my veins. This is what Navia is. She is life. She is kindness. She is a beauty that lights a room so bright the sun envy’s her.

She pulled away and looked at me. She was breathing hard, and her eyes were smoldering. “I’m still mad at you.” She closed her eyes and whispered “Just not right now.”

I picked her up and she wrapped her legs around my waist. She wrapped her arms around my neck and I slipped my hand under her shirt.  I gently caressed the soft skin that covered her hips.

“How beautiful you are my lover” I whispered to her. “I speak not of your looks, though they are equally as perfect, but of your compassion and pure soul. You have love for me, a blood thirsty Demon that does not deserve it. But I will try my love. I will try to deserve your love from this moment on. I will cherish you and everything about you.” She put her head down and the warmth from her body was flowing into me. “The way you trail circles on my arm when we lay together. The faces you make when you argue with me. The way you sometimes kick in your sleep. I love everything that makes you, you.” I gave her a quick kiss and slightly pulled away. She brought a hand forward and with two fingers she brushed my fangs.

“Why are you so perfect?” she whispered with gentle eyes.

“I am because of you. You make me what I am.” She kissed me with so much passion I thought I might fall down. We kissed for a while but eventually stopped when Navia got hungry. I was watching Navia eat when I was struck with an interesting thought.

Instead of taking Navia to some restaurant I could throw a ball. There is room for it to be held in this very house. I could surprise her with it.

I began to make the arrangements immediately. I invited Demons and Myxs and even some famous humans. It was tricky to keep it a secret from Navia. She was almost always by my side.

She is still very attached to me. It is not that I mind but she will need to start making her way away from me. She cannot stay by my side forever. Very soon I will be asked to take her in front of the queen and there we will be separated often.

The days passed by and the date that I chose to hold the ball neared. Everything was taken care of and the only thing I had to do was get Navia out of the house so the house could be decorated and made ready for the ball. I took her to a shopping center. At first she would not buy anything. I asked her why and she said she did not feel right about it. I rolled my eyes at her and convinced her to pick out something she liked. It was not terrible to shop with her. The only thing I did not like were the looks the men were giving her.

We were in a store called H&M when a man came up to Navia. I was standing away from her trying to let her wander about when he strutted over to her. He looked about Navia’s age with short brown hair. I was not paying attention to what they were saying but I found myself very interested when she giggled at him. I tilted my head curious as to what he said. I was tempted to go into her mind but I decided against it. They kept talking and the boy was slowly getting closer and closer to Navia. I gave Navia her space and did not try to listen to her conversation, but I kept a close eye on him and her.

Navia went back to looking through the racks of clothes and occasionally would nod at the boy. He put a hand on her shoulder and she shrugged it off. She narrowed her eyes and looked at him coldly. She will call me if she needs me. I kept telling myself that so I would not rush over to her and remove the boy from her side. The boy seemed to be to doing a bad job at trying to win Navia’s affection because I saw a look on her face that was of clear annoyance.

She said something to boy and walked away. The boy went after her and grabbed her arm. I took a step forward, but something in my head said to wait and see how Navia handled the situation. This is her first time out on a big crowd of humans besides the group at the Blood Bank. I saw that she was getting angrier. She tried to pull her hand away but he had a firm grip of her arm. Their conversation went on a bit more before she called me in her head. I flashed to her side. The boy flinched away when he saw me.

“Let go of her” I demanded. My fangs come down. The customers in the store were focused on the three of us. The boy looked at me with frightened eyes.

He swallowed hard and let go of her arm. “Okay” he said in a weak voice. He stared at me with wide eyes and I found it very rude.

“Leave her alone and never bother her again.” He did not move. It looked like he was frozen where he stood. “Leave” I commanded. The boy snapped out of it and ran from us. I wrapped my arm around Navia and led her back to the clothes.

We left at five o’clock in the evening. Navia had picked up a few purchases and we carried them out to the car. I drove us there in my black SUV. I put her bags in the trunk and drove us home. Excitement rose in me as we drove up the driveway.
