Look at her batting her eyelashes at him. If she gets anymore pathetic she’ll start drooling. I clenched my hands into a fist so hard I thought I would pierce the skin of my palm. I stomped over to Lucas ready to give this girl a few words. I hurried into the Demon’s section and rushed over to Lucas. I could see from his face he was uncomfortable and he knew I was angry. His eyes were begging mine not to make a scene.

I knew I shouldn’t but I was too angry to think rationally. “Excuse me, but” I said in a rushed and accusing tone “what are you doing?”

“I’m having a conversation with someone” she answered in a snappy tone. “What are you doing, other than rudely interrupting us?” I about slapped her right there but I had some control over myself and kept my hands at my sides. Lucky for her because I don’t think I can unclench my hands to actually slap her.

“No what you’re really doing is forcing yourself onto someone who clearly doesn’t want to speak with you. Now I would appreciate it if you would leave him alone.” I glared down at her. I tried to actually sound nice but it just came out rushed and angry. I can’t say that I care too much at this point though.

“Who do you think you are talking to me like that, and to tell me what he thinks? If he wanted me to leave he would have said so.”

I was about to lose control of my temper and I had no idea what would happen after that. “I’m his girlfriend” I yelled.  I’m not sure if that’s exactly what I and Lucas are but I don’t have time to debate it right now.

“Well there is always a step up” she said in a bitchy tone.

“Alright that is enough” Lucas said in a firm voice. He stood from his chair and wrapped an arm around me, pressing me against him. “Listen this is my girlfriend and I do not want anyone else. Do not insult her because there is no step up from her. I did not mind talking with you but I will not do anything else with you.” Lucas said I’m his girlfriend. The blistering heat of my fury turned to warmth from his kind words. He always makes me feel better.

“I would like it if you would leave us to talk.” The shock that she was being told to leave was clear all over her face. Ha I win. I gave her a smug smile as I watched her get up and leave. Once she was gone Lucas stood in front of me, put his hands on my shoulders, and said “I am so proud of you. You kept control of your temper. You are getting better day after day.”  I buried my face in his chest and the scent of his minty familiarity calmed me. It feels like home being wrapped in his arms.

The night went on and the night only got better. Lucas was in a great mood and he danced with me more than he usually did. The night had really turned around since earlier. When Lucas and I were just relaxing I went to the bathroom. I was washing my hands in the sink when my head was pushed forward into the mirror. It was a terrible pain and I fell to the floor. I looked up and the girl that was talking to Lucas earlier was standing over me. She looked furious. Anger rose in me in an instant, and I let my reflexes take over. I jumped to my feet and kicked her in the stomach. She flew back until she crashed into a stall wall. I went after her. I grabbed her by the throat, and slammed her against the stall once before throwing her to the ground.

I pulled my fist back to give her a good punch but Lucas dashed into the bathroom and wrapped his arms around me, pinning my arms to my side. I was furious and I fought against him. I was ready and my body wanted to fight. The adrenaline rushing through my body felt amazing. I felt liquid running drown my face. I kept a close eye on the girl who was coughing and holding her throat on the floor. Two men entered the room and looked the girl over. Lucas lifted me and carried me out of the room.
