“How about we forgive each other, and say it never happened” Navia suggested.

“I agree. It never happened.” I brought my lips to hers. She tastes like that boy. I pulled away, and looked at her.

“What? Do I have bad breath?”

“No but you taste like that boy.” Navia scurried to the bathroom and brushed her teeth. I waited on the bed for her. She came bounding back to me with minty fresh breath, and we continued where we left off. Navia fell asleep in my arms that night. I stayed up that night and went over the night’s events.

Navia was definitely trying to feed off that boy. This could be problematic. The developing of blood thirst does not usually develop until later on in the bond. Navia’s body is already dealing with other changes, this will only cause more stress. I will need to watch her closely, and see how she develops. A week passed and Navia was growing bored. She desperately wanted to get out of the house but would not ask because of what happened.

Something curious happened the next day. I left her in the morning to go feed. I had some blood kept in the refrigerator for me. (Because I am so old, when I am simply drinking so I do not get hungry, I can drink it slow.) Perhaps I took too long this time because Navia came down to the kitchen. She came up to me like she always did expecting a kiss. I was about to when I remembered that my mouth would most likely taste like blood.

That could make this feeding problem a whole lot worse.

When she saw that I was not going to kiss her she gave me a sad and confused look. “I can’t have a kiss?” I kissed her cheek and smiled at her. “Come on I want a real kiss. One that’ll make my legs feel like jelly.”

“Not right now” I said. I could not look at her because as soon as I saw her eyes I would give her anything she wanted.

If I kiss her, she will most likely taste the blood in my mouth, and I have no idea what that will do to her. This is completely new. There has never been a case of a Myx having a thirst for blood this early into the bond. It is unheard of.

            “Why not?” she pouted.

“I am feeding right now. I will kiss you later.”

“So what if you’re feeding? It’s just blood. Here let me have some, it’ll be nothing.” She reached for the glass I was drinking from. I snatched the glass before she could even touch it. Her confusion and frustration seeped through the bond. “Lucas, I don’t know why you’re acting like this, and I don’t like it.” She turned and left me alone.

I finished my blood and followed after her. By the time I reached her the taste of blood was gone from my mouth. She was in one of the spare rooms, hiding under the covers. I pulled back the covers and Navia sprang into action. She somehow managed to push me back. I fell with my back to the floor. Navia pounced on me and kissed me. It felt the adrenaline in her body as it flowed to me. That got me excited and I kissed her back. Navia’s lips were warm and demanding. After another few moments of bliss we laid on the floor happy in each other’s company.

The next week passed and it was time to let Navia out of the house. I did it slowly and the first place I took her was a gas station. It was nothing special at all but I could tell Navia was eager to see things through her new eyes. She looked at all the people and smelled what she could. I did not stay too close to her because she needed to slowly make her way without me. I hung around in the candy aisle and watched her. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a package of blue sharks. I remember how much Navia loved them when I bought them for her before. I grabbed two packages and walked over to Navia.

“Do you want anything to eat?”

“Uh no I’m fine. Harry made me some pasta an hour ago.”

            “Who is Harry?”

“The chef.” She said it like it was the most obvious answer. “You should know the names of your staff.”

“They change so often I cannot keep up.” I shrugged my shoulders. “Are you so full that you would not like any blue sharks” I held the bags out to her.

Her eyes lit up. “I could never be too full to not want blue sharks.” I smiled and took her over to the checkout counter. There was a teenage boy behind the cash register. He had brown hair and was wearing a red vest. I put the candy on the counter. He looked at me and then at Navia. His eyes lingered on Navia longer than I liked. He swallowed and rang up the candy.

“That’ll be 3.24.” I handed him a five dollar bill. He gave me my change and a receipt. “Um, excuse me miss I was wondering if I could take you out on a date” he said in shaky and uncertain voice. Anger rose in me and I was tempted to turn to violence.

Navia cut me off before I could do anything. “Thank you for asking but I’m with someone.” She grabbed my hand and intertwined her fingers. I lifted our hands and kissed the back of her hand.

The boy nodded, and we left. In the car, Navia ripped open one of the bags of candy and dug in. After the gas station we went home. Later that night at around ten I took her to the Blood Bank again.

Navia should be able to handle everything better than she did before
