I went into my bathroom and started the shower. I got in and washed the blood off of my skin and out of my hair. While in the shower my tears stopped. When I was clean I got out and changed. I looked in the mirror. I wonder if Lucas and Claude are okay? Lucas could be dead. My eyes began to sting and my throat felt like it was closing up. I walked out, past my room and went out to the lounge. Sara rushed over to me and led me to the couch. I began to cry. Lucas looked dead. What if he is? The last conversation we had was a fight. And Claude looked seriously injured. They both got injured protecting me.

I talked with Sara and told her what I remembered. I left out my fight with Lucas. We fell asleep on the couch. I woke up screaming. I kept seeing Lucas’ face, all life gone from his eyes. Sara popped up.

“Navia it’s okay.” I looked at her breathing hard. I ran to my room and changed out of my pajama pants, and pulled on my gray hoodie. I have to go see if Claude and Lucas are okay. I was out the door in record time. I went to the second building where the infirmary was. I only got half way down the hallway before I was stopped. There was a Demon on watch.

“Where are you going?” he asked.

“I want to see Claude or Lucas.”

“Sorry but they aren’t allowed to see anyone.”

“So they’re okay. They made it?”

“Claude did” he said heartlessly. “I’m not sure about Lucas they started working on him last night.” Lucas might not make it. My legs felt weak, and I slumped to the ground. This is all my fault. If I had stayed at the institute, they wouldn’t be injured. The Demon grabbed me by my elbows and lifted me to my feet. “Listen I am sure he will survive, Lucas is tough. He won’t let some rouges kill him.” I nodded my head. “Go back to your dorm. Neither of them will be able to see visitors until at least tomorrow.”

“Can I wait here?” I asked in a weak voice.

“No” he said in a rough tone.

            “But I-”

“Go back to your dorm. This is no place for you to stay.”

I walked away a little, and turned my back to the Demon. How can I get past this guy? I bit my lip. I bit too hard and broke the skin on my lip. I tasted my blood, and an idea struck me. I pretended to sneeze and spit some of the blood on the wall. I heard the Demon behind me take a deep breath. I spat some more blood. Suddenly the Demon was right behind me. I bit more on my lips. It hurt like hell but I continued to break my lip. I turned and spat some blood on his face. He immediately began licking it off.

I ran around him. There were doors lining the walls going down the hallway. They’ve got to be in one of these. Luckily there was a little window in the middle of every door. I looked in every room and neither Lucas nor Claude was in any of them. Where are they? Then at the end of the hall I saw a steel door. There, they’ve got to be in there. I opened the door and saw a stair way leading down. It was dark at the bottom of the stairs. I guess Demons don’t need light to see. I went down the stairs and as it got darker and darker it became harder for me to see.

At the bottom of the stairs it was pitch black and I couldn’t see a thing. Off in the distance there was a light. I went towards the light and found what looked like a maze of hallways and doors. Shit how will I ever find them now. I heard talking getting louder and louder. Someone’s coming. I went around the corner, and ran. I took some turns and eventually I think I found where they were keeping them. There were Demons standing in the hall talking. I waited for a while, until they left in the opposite direction.
