Finding You

Chapter ~~12

Lucas looked at Caleb. “What the hell Caleb? You got her drunk? At nine in the morning?” Caleb was looking regretful. The room began to spin and my eyes hurt. I passed out.

I woke up later. It felt like I had gotten a full night’s sleep but I looked at the clock and it was nine thirty. I sat up and my head hurt. It was ten times worse than a head ache. I was in our bed. I got out of bed and crept silently down the stairs. I wasn’t trying to sneak up on anyone, everything was already loud enough. When I was close to the bottom of the stairs I saw Lucas and Caleb in the living room. Lucas was shouting. It was like he was shouting right in my ear.

“She has just bonded to me. Why would you even think to give her blood?”

That was blood I drank. Ugh, I drank blood. My stomach began to flip. I felt nauseous and I bent over.

“Lucas” Caleb called. Lucas spun around. He flashed over to me, grabbed me by my arms and he pulled me into the nearest bathroom. He leaned me over the toilet and I threw up.

I hate throwing up. It always made me cry afterword. When my stomach was empty tears filled my eyes and streamed down my face. Lucas handed me a glass of water. I rinsed my mouth out multiple times. I tried to stop my tears. After I finished the water Lucas took me in his arms and he held me. After a few minutes I stopped and I was catching my breath. Lucas pulled me away to look at me.

“Are you alright?”

“Shhhh” I shushed, “Don’t talk so loud.” Lucas smiled at me and out his forehead against mine. The pounding in my head stopped, and I didn’t hear everything that was moving in the house.

“Do you feel better?”

“Much. Though my stomach is still a little upset.”

Lucas smiled and said “You just need to let your stomach calm down. You should rest.” Lucas carried me out of the bathroom and waiting outside was Caleb.

He looked sad and remorseful. “Are you all better?”

I narrowed my eyes at him and said “Yes” through clenched teeth. Lucas laughed and his chest made me shake.

“She is going to rest upstairs. Move Caleb.”

“Wait” he protested, “You should not be by yourself. It will take longer if you are by yourself. Stay downstairs and we all can watch a movie.” He smiled but his eyes were still sad.

“Is that what you want?” Lucas asked.

“Okay” I said. A movie did sound better than silence. We all went into the living room. I sat on Lucas’ lap and Caleb sat a little way away. Lucas flipped through all the movies available and we decided on a comedy. For the first few minutes my stomach was turning and making noises. Both Caleb and Lucas could hear them and they looked to me wondering if I was okay.

“I’m okay, just because my stomach makes a noise it doesn’t mean that I’m going to throw up.” They both smiled and looked back to the movie. Internally I was cursing at my stomach telling it to keep quiet.

The movie was funny and we all liked it. After it was over Lucas asked me how I felt. “I’m fine, my stomach calmed in the middle of the movie. Let’s watch another.” So we did. This time we watched a scary movie. It made me jump and every time I grabbed onto Lucas. He just chuckled and wrapped his arms around me. After that movie we were talking about the twist ending when the phone rang. Lucas’s was called and he set me down on the couch.

When he was gone Caleb turned to me. “Navia,” I looked at him. “I did not mean to get you drunk. I did not think you were so new to the bond. But I suppose I never should have given you any blood. Can you forgive me?”
