Finding You

Chapter ~~12

            Hmmm. Where to go? Demons must have a lot of time on their hands. They have the whole not dying thing and then the fact that they don’t sleep. I wonder what they do with it all. That’s something to ask Lucas. I wonder how long he’s been alive. This is so wonderful. I wish Lucas was here to enjoy it with me.

            I passed the night doing pointless things. I saw it as re-experiencing the beauty of nature. It was like seeing the world all over again, but better. The sun brought an end to my innocent fun, and the rise of the sun was too bright and hurt my eyes. I hid in the shade of a tree but as the sun rose higher the shade became pointless. The sun hurt, and I couldn’t get away from it. I was too scared to run through it to a building to hide. I waited for someone to pass. They would help me. Wouldn’t they? I waited for an hour in pain trying to hide from the sun’s bright light. Finally a Myx passed near my tree.

            “Help me” I called to him. He looked at me funny before he came over to me.

            “Help you from what?” he asked suspicious.

            “The sun is to bright, can you get me inside?”

            “Yeah, sure” he pulled me to my feet but as soon as my arm hit the sunlight it burned. I pulled back my hand and hissed at him. I climbed up the tree and hid in the leaves.

            “That hurt” I accused him.

            “Sorry. What do you want me to do?” he sounded confused.

            “Can you go get a Demon?”

            “Okay I’ll be right back.” He left me and took far too long to return with a Demon. He brought back Claude.

            Come on! Really? It couldn’t be anyone else?

            “What do you want?” he asked rudely.

            “The sun hurts” I yelled down at him. He sighed.

            Claude is clearly holding some harsh feelings.

            “I have to go get a blanket. That should be enough to shield you from the sun.” I watched as he walked away.

            I don’t like how things ended between us any more than he does. He needs to be professional.

            Claude came back with a large baby blue blanket. He walked into the shade under the tree. I hopped down and landed on my feet. Claude wrapped the blanket around me and pushed me forward. Though the sun wasn’t on me directly, I could still feel it, and the blanket smelt like fruit. I heard the opening of doors. Claude ripped the blanket off my head.

            “Thank you Claude.” He kissed me. It was a complete surprise, and I pushed him off of me. “What the hell are you doing?” I yelled.

            “Now you will remember me” he said and walked away.

            “That makes no sense” I yelled down the hall in his direction.

            I was trapped in that building all day. Once the sun went down I ventured out and explored some more. I wanted a better view of the campus so I found the tallest tree in the small woods that were behind the institute, and climbed to the top. The campus looked like a painting. I’ve never seen anything like this.

            “And I have never seen a woman look so beautiful in the moonlight” said a familiar voice. My insides warmed. I jumped down from the tree and landed on my feet next to Lucas.
