“I see” she voice shook.
“Navia I-”
“No” she cut me off. She stood up as well. “I can forgive you Lucas, but I don’t trust you. And without trust there is nothing.” The tears in her eyes spilled over. I brushed her tears away and she swatted at my hand. “Stop it” she yelled. “You were right” she said in a quieter voice. “You said bad things happen when you break a promise. Well you broke a promise to me. Maybe it meant nothing to you, but you were right and something terrible happened.” She walked away and right before she left the room she turned to me. “You broke my heart.” I saw her tears poring over. She walked out the door and left.
Why am I so stupid? I completely messed that up. I let my anger get the best of me and now I have driven her off. I truly am a monster. I do not even deserve to be near such a beautiful creature as Navia. She needs someone as patient like Claude.
For the rest of the day I hovered on the ceiling of the combat arena. Everyone left me alone. That was until later that evening when Claude called to me. It was about eight o’clock in the evening.
“Lucas may I speak with you?” he asked from the ground.
Slowly I hovered down until my feet could touch the ground. Claude put his hand over his heart and bowed. I nodded my head accepting his bow.
“What bothers you?”
“Have you seen Navia?”
I narrowed my eyes at him. “No” I answered simply.
“I cannot find her anywhere. She did not go to any of her classes and Sara her roommate said she had not seen her all day.”
What if Navia ran off because of the fight we had his morning? I upset her so much she ran from here. Damn it. I find someone who cares for me and all I do is hurt them. I will find Navia, and bring her back. Even if I cannot be with her right now, I want her safe.
“Come with me.”
I went to Jessica Marsden’s office. She may give us help in the search for Navia. I tried to walk to her office calmly but as the seconds ticked by my worry and anger grew. I flashed over to her office using my accelerate speed. Her office was a small room with very little in it. The walls were a dark green. There was a long wooden desk, four gray filling cabinets, two black chairs and a large gray chair behind the desk. The filing cabinets were lined against the wall, and the desk was squarely in the middle of the room. The desk was almost clear except a stack of papers, a white lamp, a pen, and a black telephone. Jessica sat in the chair behind the desk. Her light orange hair glowed under the light. Seeing me she bowed her head and I nodded.
“A Myx is missing” I informed her.
“Who?” Her face never faltered, and she kept that same indifferent look in place. That angered me a little.
“Navia Monroe.”
She raised her brow, but quickly put back on her mask of indifference. “You are sure she is not on campus.”
“I checked everywhere” Claude defended. “We need to send Demons out to search for her.”
“Just one Myx is missing?” With that question I knew how this was going to end. It was a waste of time coming here.
