That broke me out of my trance and I pulled away breathing hard. “Stop” I said in a weak voice. I wonder what got into Claude.

Claude paid me no attention and continued kissing my neck. It feels wonderful but this is going too fast. I mean some day we can but not here and not now. I pushed on Claude’s chest. That usually told him when I’d had enough. Claude pulled away from my neck and looked at me, his eyes bright and excited. He sighed and his cool breath washed over my face. He gave me a kiss that barely felt like his lips touched mine, and put me down on my feet.

“I have to go” I said in a shaky voice.

            “I will see you tomorrow.”

“Can I have one more kiss?” I asked playfully.

“You, my delectable little thing, can have as many as you want.” Claude flashed to my side and kissed me. Oh god. I sighed into his mouth. Claude pulled away and looked at me, his eyes looked a little crazy.

“Never do that again.” His voice quivered. He walked away without another word or explanation.

I went to my dorm to find it empty. I assumed that Sara would have been here. I really wanted to talk to her. I went to my room and changed out of my clothes. I put on some lounge pants and my gray hoodie. I grabbed my French homework and laid it out on the coffee table in the lounge. I read the first question, and had no idea how to answer. I should have asked Claude for help. For the next thirty minutes I struggled with my homework. Very often I debated about calling Claude and asking him to help me. I was about to get up and find Claude when Sara walked in. She had a huge smile on her face.

“Hey. Where’d you go during dinner?” she asked as she crossed the room and sat down on the couch

“I got sidetracked on the way back from the bathroom.” I said not truly lying. “What’s up with you?”

            “What do you mean?”

“I mean you’re all extra happy and smiley. What happened?”

Sara’s smile widened. “Well after we left the hall, we all went to get smoothies at that little shop just down the road. It’s close enough that it’s not too long of a walk. On the way back Ryan asked me out. We’re going to see a movie on Sunday.” Sara was practically bouncing with excitement.

“I hope you guys have fun.” I said.

            “Thanks, I’m really excited.”

“I can tell.” I tried to smile, but found that I couldn’t.

“Navia are you okay? You seemed upset this afternoon.”

“I’m fine I was just confused.”

            “About what? Can I help?”

Should I tell Sara about Lucas, and how I already know him? “I was just wondering why professor Marsden bowed to Lucas today at that assembly. It makes no sense.”

“Do you know about the Demons system?” I shook my head. “Demons go by a short of ranking system. The older they are the more power they have. The more power the more...” Sara seemed to search her brain “…the more respect they get. Demons thrive off of power and the constant pursuit of more. They can tell how powerful other Demons are, so they’re pretty competitive.” She shrugged her shoulders.
